Random out of the blue deaths BS

Dear GGG,
These out the blue death are complete and utter bullsh~t.. There is 1 enemy nearby, normal white mob. He has a big circle in his hands and is at the end of the screen walking slowly towards me.

Yesterday: Suddenly 3K ES, 2k life and 2,5K MoM mana gone.. What the actual f...
Just now: same situation, poof gone with no clear enemies to be seen that can actually deal that much dmg in 1 shot category..

My character is quite tanky (7,5 life pool, 86% evasion, 25% armour, max resists) and does T16 maps with +2 from maps with an ocassional death due to stupidity. But these random deaths which seem more frequent make this experience feel more horrible.

I would really like to know what kills me in a log or a replay.. Why can other games do this, but not Path of Exile 1 or 2?
