Act 2 bug/glitch screwed up my gameplay, it will wipe your progress and make you start over

I was in Act 2 on Cruel Diffuculty about to finish to go on to Act 3. Last boss I had to fight was Jamanra, the Abomination. Quest Ascent to Power: Search Traitor's Passage was highlighted red because I never did turned in Balbala's Barya in the Relic Altar at Trial of the Sekhemas. So I figured I go to the location so Quest Ascent to Power: Search Traitor's Passage would go away. When I went to Trial of the Sekhemas it said quest complete and Balbala was waiting at the alter. But when I returned to the Caravan my quests were gone. It did not give me the final quest line which ends up being a fight with Jamanra, the Abomination. I only had the option to teleport to act 3, and when I did so, there were no quests there as well. On the right side of the screen it stated go through the portal to start Cruel Difficulty which I was already on, and I was working my way towards Merciless. When I went through the portal, it started me at the beginning of Act 1 with Cruel Difficulty again but all of the NPC's (Like The Hooded One) were all in the encampment. I've have no quests but the game glitched and skipped a whole act (Act 3), including the final boss of Act 2, and I now have to start all over unless a Dev can roll my player back to the final mission of act 2.

The area for the Trial of the Sekhemas exists in Act 2 Normal, not in Act 2 Cruel.
When you returned to the caravan, you were still in Act 2 Normal.

Use a waypoint to travel to Act 2 Cruel.
