Ghost item in trade?

I just attempted to trade with someone, and they told me to simply take the item without paying for it. I was happy, thinking it was a kind gesture. We completed the trade successfully, but the item didn’t appear in my inventory.

Since I’m not very experienced with PoE2, I wanted to ask for help here. Is this just a bug or a known exploit? I have some divines in my stash, so I’m feeling a bit concerned.
