GGG was 100% right to stop pouring money into it POE 1 and focussing on POE 2
This game was 13 years old. 13. This is centuries in gaming. It had a terrible performance and stability. It was a patch upon patch upon patch and it showed.
It was obvious to anyone who knows anything about coding that the game source code was so called "spaghetti code", as evident by many, many, many instances where they patched one bug and a few new, unexpected bugs would appear. Continuation of trying to patch and fix it was like putting make-up on a corpse. Yeah, nice lipstick and rose, but still a damn corpse. Maintaining such a mess of a source code is not only money draining. It's also exhausting and leads to very quick burn out and people simply leaving because they did not sign up for putting make-up on a corpse. It was a bottomless pit, a black hole for money, talents and enthusiasm. The future belongs to POE 2 as shown by it's enormous success and the fact that masses abandoned POE 1 for it practically overnight. It was about time for GGG to do the same. Also worth noting - a massive part of POE 2 players are people who never even played POE 1. They are also the future of GGG and a reasonable company that wants to expand should look into the future, not into the past to please a few people who got stuck in there. " It's a wicked way of looking at a game that has defied all the laws of durability by attracting more and more players to every league since its release over 10 years ago... I don't share your point of view, whatever it may be. I can't tell if you're being honest in your analysis or if you're just trying to make a provocative post. Regardless of the nature of your post, GGG seems to be insisting on continuing to develop new leagues on PoE1 for at least another year. " Your opinion is utterly irrelevant. GGG asked for money on the premise that initially PoE2 would be a parallel product with the same storyline as PoE1, and then following that that PoE1 development would not be harmed, and would even BENEFIT, from PoE2. They garnered the money for PoE2 support by lying about their intention, or they failed to appropriately allocate resources to tend to those promises they made. PoE2 numbers are below 100k, after a peak of nearly 600k. Of those 100k, many have zero reason to return, because the campaign is attrocious to repeat - somehow worse than PoE1 despite being 3 acts instead of 10. People who don't return absolutely won't be spending money, which is the ultimate decider. Needless to say, whatever population PoE1 sustained, it was a population that provided the money necessary to develop PoE2 to the point it is at, and it is a population that has now been utterly decimated in terms of trust in GGG. The fact that PoE2 has more players is irrelevant unless those players continue to spend money into the future, and currently there is no product to support that. I get that you're a troll, but the reality is that some people really believe what you say, and need to know how wrong you are. I'm hardly a whale, but I've spent a lot more money than most on GGG, and there is zero chance they will ever receive a dollar more from me. Trading in sure money for gambling on an unproven population and product is absurd and destructive. Last edited by Pathological#1188 on Jan 31, 2025, 4:19:03 AM

"GGG said this and that" "GGG promised this and that" people need to get over it at some point, they made a mistake, they misjudged, apologized to the community with a video, all in good faith and you guys keep beating it like a bunch of savage, let it go, it's only a video game...being mad won't change a thing.

Literally just keep playing poe1, if you can stand to. I know it's difficult, because the game is so old and you're tired of doing the same thing, but for the sake of winning an argument online, I think you all should play poe1 for an extra 1000 hours to prove that you actually like it.

Bitch I'm gonna play poe for another fifteen thousand hours. Fuck is this noob 1k bullshit? You mean at the start of the next league right? I'll physically fight Johnathan for the life of poe1 and my body is a broken wreck but God damn poe1 is the best hack and slash ever made and it's not by a little. Poe1 is god you mook.
