Learn to love the game while hating the company

I decided to write this because I realised that most of the community is now entering the state of cognitive dissonance that I went through years ago when it came to PoE. Most of you still dearly love the game, maybe even both games; And yet, it's hard to reconcile that with the festering feelings that you now hold towards GGG. It's causing so many people to behave childishly, threatening the company with refunds and no future support. They will not take this seriously, as they well shouldn't. They know your heated anger will pass.

I know nobody asked for this, but I'm gonna offer my few words (of wisdom hopefully? maybe some of you will find wisdom in them). I have loathed GGG as a company for years. I think it was the incompetence and lies that first did it; I won't go into PoE's history or what was the turning point for me, but it has been the case for many years, perhaps since 2017 or even earlier.
It's also always been very obvious that they never liked the direction they were taking poe1, since they were sacrificing "the vision" for what the community wanted (a fast paced arpg with the highest skill expression within a genre where skill expression is often completely non-existent).

But I still loved the game. I still wanted to buy nice mtx and enjoy it more. So I learned to reconcile the two. It's ok to love the game and hate the company that makes it. You don't have to view them as your friends. They aren't. You aren't supporting them either. They are on the Tencent payroll, your purchases and playtime are not an endorsement of their practices. You're playing PoE for yourself, not to reward GGG for making it. So play it and enjoy it and buy nice mtx if you still wish to do so.

Small sidenote, I do not think private leagues are the way. I wish people would reinvigorate Settlers or Standard instead. It sends a better message, that we will reclaim the game for ourselves even if they do nothing, for as long as the servers are running. But that's just me.

Anyway, yes, I hope this is helpful to some. It's ok to hate GGG, all the while admitting they made the best arpg, and perhaps one of the greatest games, ever made. Do it for yourself.
