550 hours and I'm done - The game is too punishing - players time not respected
And before I get the inevitable "If you played 550 hours then your not respecting your own time"
the bottom line is I have a full time job and manage to maintain my life while still spending a lot of time gaming, that's that. But the bottom line with POE2 , is that it does not give a dam if you just spent 4 hours farming for expensive fragments to use for a boss, They have created non-stop 1 shots and given you exactly 1 try to complete that boss. I have absolutely no problem killing all of the pinnacle bosses, but arbiter is absolutely stupid to try and say that you only get 1 try. And yes, when you have him maxed out and all of his points + difficulty, you only have 1 try at him still, even after the "5 tries added" bs, and that's what it is BS. You know why it's BS? Because I didn't see anywhere that it was clarified that once you add difficulty points to his atlas, you get less and less tries... so I went into it thinking that even if I messed up I could at least have my extra tries to get it down, But I was wrong. I wasted 9 fragments that I could have simply sold and just never have engaged with the content but I really want to go for the items that drop from him, But 9/10 times that you die to him it's because of an unlucky timing or in my case the fact that I play infernalist and the screen is so covered with CRAP everywhere that I cant see the ground 90% of the time for when he does his attacks. It took my DAYS of grinding and farming maps to find those fragments. DAYS OF GAME-TIME DELETED AND WASTED. THIS IS NOT FUN OR CHALLENGING IT IS JUST STUPID. Honestly ,I'm just done and over with this game, it is a huge time sink and I love every aspect of it, but the fact that GGG has said they are trying to make this game more slow paced and souls like and then go and add 3 different 1 shot mechanics to a boss that you only have ONE attempt on, that takes HOURS if not DAYS to farm the materials, is just bs. I am not going to engage with a game that blatantly disrespects my time, to be honest, I would rather just quit and go spend my time being a productive member of society. I should not have to gear my self into some broken Non-stop freeze and mass dps class that can stun the boss for the entirety of the fight and dps him before he even has a chance to do any of his mechanics. Honestly I'm surprised that even after all these years of gaming, a company can fail so badly at knowing what is good and healthy for the game. My question is, are any of the devs actually playing their own game? Who is it geared towards? The absolutely most hardcore players who don't mind having hours or days of their time deleted because of punishment added into the game by devs that don't even play their own game? It's honestly infuriating to me that i've wasted so much time on this game, only to just say screw it and give up because I am so sick of wasting hours and days of grinding on something that I don't even have the chances to attempt to get better at because of these absolutely moronic 1 death bosses and 1 death punishments. It's not perfect, and I haven't even done Arb +4 to know about respawn reductions, but you've gotta understand you're talking the FINAL boss of a wildly (self-admitted by GGG) underdeveloped endgame.
I'll offer a counterpoint to your "and before I get..." You got 550 hours out of the first iteration of an EA game. That's actually insane. Things like Dead Cells back in EA or the 3D game whose name I can't remember (by the same devs) that just came out in EA...I got maybe 30 hours before quitting and coming back a year later. 550 hours is great! Take a break, play other things, come back when cool stuff gets put in and other things get fixed. Btw, I'm one of those people with a family, job, and still clock 200+ hours of gaming a month at times. It's a juggling act, but I get the importance of gaming in all of it :D Edit: My first and only Arbiter try was pre-multiple-chances, I died to the first set of flame waves, the 4th wave to be exact, even though it looked like I was standing dead middle of the safe lane. Even made a rage post about it. I said then and I'll say now, it might be the only fight in any ARPG worse than launch Uber Lilith in D4. That said, I hope they fix it - I'd like to try it again one day :D Last edited by Redthorne82#3177 on Feb 2, 2025, 4:20:01 AM

I dont get these posts, averaging 10-12hrs a day for 2 months in an early access game that cost you less than half of what most finished games costs and those usually offer one tenth of the content.
As for wasting your time, if you can spend 10-12hr a day playing video games you clearly have plenty of time on your hands. |

+1 this game is extremely punishing!!! If I need to spend days for farming my 1 try BS it means this game has real game design issues…
Long story short I will not spend a dollar on this game, until we have rational difficulty levels P.S. Im not calling to make this game casual, never, but this BS one shots and penalties must go Last edited by Jagdkommando90#7200 on Feb 2, 2025, 4:30:10 AM

" Yeah, right? This post is wild, to the point that I think it might be satire. 2 full months playing 10 hours a day every single day (how is this even possible with a full time job?) on a 25$ early access game and they complain lol |

" yup you were wrong. and just because you missed it being clarified doesn't mean it wasn't. this is a direct quote from the patch notes themselves, let alone what they all said in interviews etc " so that does sound like a "you" problem, and you're trying to take it out on GGG. you messed up but its GGGs fault sorry you lost the fragments and boss attempts, but it was fully communicated. i know the boss fight is nuts so i won't even attempt it and im fine with that. I just had a similar experience with audience with the king boss. I spent hours and hours grinding to get the omen for it. When I did get it and entered, I got 1 shotted by him. I don't even know how. I have close to 300 hours in this game as gemling, monk, and witch. I am putting it down for now until the full game is out.

Dark Souls is fun because it is hard. And you can try again, infinitely, as long as your mental is strong. Even they (Fromsoftware) realised that going TO THE BOSS is annoying, useless, not challenging, and made the player angry.
They decided to create the bonfire closer to the boss, Malena? You can try again, she's right in front of you, she's hard but you can do it again. Make the pattern hard, go ahead, make it oneshot, but always.. Let them play the game. You are learning from Demon Souls, while they are already created Dark Souls 3. Actually shameful tbh. |

" Dark Souls was never hard for me, it's a simple game of learning the attack patterns of the monsters and deflecting, blocking, rolling or counter-attacking the move and the game respects your time and has great gear drop rates and the drops are good unlike PoE 2 dog shit clown drops. Dark Souls is a superior game at the moment and it should not be dragged into the mud next to Path of Exploitation 2 lmao. |
