Criticism on Devout of Gruthkul
Same reason why i never use gruthkul's pelt.
poe1 lacks distinction between "skills" vs "spells". spells deal 0 damage is good thematically, but i dont understand why spells are disabled entirely. bloodrage is very melee oriented but is a spell guard skills are also spells movement skills are also spells due to that fact. players simply wont use this unless they make an "immortal" 10-20k hp character that has 5k hp regen. which becomes useless when hit by a map mod that reduces healing effectiveness. oof I just posted the same damn thread lol
Just to pitch in I agree and have been looking for an excuse to make a Gruthkuls pelt build forever. You can even double this ascendancy node by wearing the Pelt. and its still a dumb idea and will make a slow, painfully low QoL build that will have tons of regen and 10,000 health pool. Problem is its not hard to use Trickster or Inquis to make a build that has 25,000 and super high recovery while still getting the use of all spells. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |

" lol well as they say great minds think alike, winks i checked your thread out. i kinda agree to your points. the sad thing about the part about you saying "ggg doesnt understand" is because i dont know how much of it is true. on one hand they could be all stressed up and overworked. they had to squeeze out content and ideas. also POE is a behemoth of a game with literal thousands of things to consider. perhaps they overlooked? on another hand gruthkul's pelt has existed "forever". they even buffed it iirc. its pretty strong "as is" but it does make one wonder if theyre intentionally not caring about this issue and instead chalk it up to "player choice". they should have basic calulus of their game up on whiteboards, bounding, flow charts of whats already possible or already "in need of nerfs" the bounds of whats possible in the game need to be understood to be able to properly balance things.
Surely they understand Tricksters can get tens of thousands of ES with high recovery, and Inquis somewhat less hybrid Life+ES and huge recovery. So understanding that lets say 9 or 10k life of a Gruthkul's build plus ~18% regen is not actually worthy of the downsides they seem to think it needs. Even nearly doubled with the event ascendancy its still just significantly less recovery and health pool for a dramatically larger downside. The event ascendancy goes away in a month give or take... Its disappointing that GGG doesn't know their game well enough to understand the full repercussions of that downside. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.

" sometimes i wonder is it that they just dont care? sirus die beams are toxic af. if you die and are on the way back to the arena you could get 1 shot off screen. theres an "easy solution" where they just need to make it so that sirus just chills until the player enters the arena. its 2025 and i m pretty sure nothings been done. similarly so many people hate maven memory game. no changes. in fact ggg doubled down and gave us uber pinnacles. as for poe2 i m just letting them cook. high on copium. i just hope they dont let me down. They should add unaffected by curses to devout of yugul so you can at least run it with cowards legacy and have somewhat decent (but still unoptimal)
