Uncut Spirit Gem skill disappears after use of spirit gem

I went to use my uncut spirit gem twice and once I chose the skill to activate the skill and spirit gem disappeared. I went to activate cast on freeze and lost two lvl 12 spirit gems in the process and did not receive the skill. Is this a known bug?

Just happened to me. Got a Lvl 10 uncut spirit gem that I really needed. Went to cut a cast on ignite gem. But when I clicked it the uncut gem disappeared but I got nothing back. Needless to say I was pretty annoyed because I am playing SSF and I just can't buy one.

Do you happen to have the Skill Gem tab?

When creating a skill gem from an uncut gem in this tab, the resulting skill gem appears in the "Level 1" group of gems which is likely scrolled off the screen. That group is usually rather full of things and it can be hard to see. It doesn't matter what the level of the created skill gem or support is -- it ends up in the Level 1 section.


Failing that, was your stash or inventory full at the time?


Question for the OP:
Were you trying to create a new spirit gem or to upgrade one that you already had socketed in your skill list? The interface will prioritize upgrading an existing skill over creating a new gem.

It sounds like either way you never ended up with a level 12 Cast on Freeze skill. If the first attempt had applied successfully, the game would have greyed out the skill when trying to use another level 12 uncut spirit gem (with skill gem restrictions set to on as they are by default).



There have certainly been other concerns raised about uncut gems.

I actually went back and saw that it upgraded the skill instead. Since then I have actually completed my build and I am all set. Thank you for the response.

I learned to just slow down when using gems.
