River Hag 1 shot

First post here, just died on Hardcore to the River Hag on act 3, had time freeze on which didn't matter, but this was my first encounter with this mob and it feels beyond terrible game design

1) Bosses can't one shot you this far in the game, but a MOB can? with a move that ignores all your stats? with a drowning mechanic that's never introduced, explained, or presented to the player?

2) No warning, no explanation or advice to let at least players know that now, all of a sudden, there is one mob that can not only ignore all your stats, but it can also one shot you, making you lose hundreds of hours, gear and items... because devs decided this is good to add

3) This is clearly poor game design and intentional in bad faith, there is no other explanation to it, and I imagine devs getting a kick out of this twisted concept, so players lose all their progress, grind again, and of course, pay again out of frustration - well after this, I can ensure you that you won't ever see a penny from me

4) while I asked in the chat what happened, I heard there are other parts in the game where this can happen but also never explained, I lost 3 HC characters before, all due to lack of skill or poor choices which I've accepted, and improved, but this time it feels beyond unfair and exploitative

5) lastly, for all the players rejoicing on these game mechanics and exploitative practices, enjoy, the game is certainty made for people like you

I'm in standard mode, but I've also had three one-shots in three maps since the new patches.

Before the patch, I didn't die easily; I can't believe that I died three times in a day like this.

And yeah, it was all from the stupid mobs.
The river hag mob was in T17 maps and in the eater of the worlds boss from poe1. Poe 1 never had pausing capabilities like this game does, so if you were unsure, you couldve paused and logged out. Now you know that mob exists, i bet you wont fall for it again. live, die, learn, live again.

To clarify, the drowning orbs were in T17s and Eater, not the river hag. That's beside the point, though - PoE2 has lots of new players who never played the first game (or maybe did but never made far enough to learn what a drowning orb is). Furthermore, yes, you can pause the game, but in spite of this we do not have the ability to read tooltips of buffs and debuffs on our character which absolutely should be possible. You can't really fault someone for dying to a drowning orb when it doesn't pose any clear danger unless you already know what it does.

That said, a blind playthrough of PoE2 hardcore (or almost any game hardcore, really) seems... inadvisable, to say the least?
