PoE 2 Sound Device reverting to default

So there are multiple threads on this already but none of them resolve the issue.

My issue is that every time I start the game the sound device for the game has reset to the default system device. I am currently using the WaveLink software to route my audio to different channels and I have a specific channel for games which has a separate slider for volume.

Potential solutions I have tried so far:

"
1. Start the game
- Go to options
- Set the output audio device to the correct device (in my case Wave Link Game)
- Save options

2. Switch to Windows desktop
- Go to Sound Settings (right-click on speaker icon in taskbar)
- Check my default output is correct

3. Go into "App volume and device preferences"
- Check default device (again) is correct
- Scroll down to Path of Exile 2
- Set output device (top drop-down box) to Wave Link Game)

3. Quit / Restart the game

I have tried this multiple times, without closing the game and closing the game while doing this doesn't matter.

I have also tried various suggested solutions in relation to OneDrive, most notably this one:
"
1. Open File Explorer.
2. Go to your "Documents" directory.
3. Locate and right-click on your "My Games" folder.
4. Ensure the option "Always keep on this device" is checked in the context menu.
5. Finally, double check that the "My Games" folder (and sub-folders) are now stored locally on your PC (indicated by a green check mark within a green circle to the right of the folder/file's name).

I simply don't have any option to "Always keep on this device" in the context menu.

Furthermore, I have uninstalled OneDrive completely as I'm not using it at all.

This doesn't solve the issue.

Third potential solution I have tried is the Windows Security "Controlled folder access"
"
In Windows Security you could check the "Virus and Threat Protection" --> "Controlled Folder Access" --> Manage controlled folder access --> Block History, let it load the list and check the top listing, select allow for POE2.

Just something to try.

I have turned that option completely off so it shouldn't enterfere in any way. Right?

I have tried messing with the read/write access in the MyGames-folder. I.e. the following two remedies:
"
go to \Documents\My Games\ find Path of Exile 2, right click it, pick properties and make it not hidden.

"
go to Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2 and set the poe2_production_config to read only

This foxed the issue of the in-game volume levels sticking, i.e. Sound Effects, Music, Ambient, Dialogue, Chat Alerts and Cinematic Volumes staying the way I prefer to have them but the game still reverts to the default sound device.

So, I'm at the end of the ropes here, any other solution out there I haven't tried?

Well, still no fix to this issue.
