Possible bug with Megalomaniac Jewel

My setup is a Merc witchhunter CI build. I have 5203 es, but for some reason when I start a new map or new instance, I default to missing 420 es (still have max of 5203 but at 4783). The only connection I have made is my Megalomaniac jewel. It has Melding and dependable ward which Melding gives me exactly 420 es. When I take the jewel out, this problem goes away. Is this a bug with the jewel or am I missing something with how melding works with my build? First time posting to forum and not sure if this is the right thread.
