Burning Ground Interaction with Divine Flesh
I am playing Architect of Chaos and have allocated the node that grants:
Everlasting Sacrifice: When you reach full Energy Shield, Sacrifice all Energy Shield to gain +5% to all Maximum Resistances for 4 seconds I also have Divine Flesh: All Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield 50% of Elemental Damage taken as Chaos Damage +5% to maximum Chaos Resistance However, standing in burning ground prevents my ES from recharging. Since all damage (including dots) bypass my ES, my uptime of Everlasting Sacrifice should be 100%. However this is not the case when I stand on burning ground as it somehow interrupts my ES recharge. My ES freezes at some value (whatever value it was before I stand on burning ground) and my life degens. The life degeneration is to be expected but the lack of ES recharge is not, unless I am missing something. RESOLVED: Any damage, whether on ES or Life interrupts ES recharge Last edited by LordofDiamonds#2489 on Feb 26, 2025, 10:37:39 PM Last bumped on Feb 27, 2025, 5:06:53 PM

"I see you've already found the reason for this, but I thought I'd add an extra note for the sake of clarity - recharge in PoE1 is interrupted specifically by taking damage to either ES or to the resource ES is protecting (which is life by default, but not always). So if you take Eldritch Battery, and ES is protecting mana instead, damage taken from life will no longer interrupt ES recharge. So long as you don't also have anything that causes some of your damage taken to come from mana (such as Mind over Matter) then your recharge should just keep going. You will lose ES to pay for mana costs due to EB, but loss from spending doesn't interrupt recharge so that may overall be better for you depending on how often you're taking damage and how high your mana costs are. Thank you so much for the clarification. I was using EB before for my Everlasting Sacrifice, before I swapped to Divine Flesh which is why I was confused.
The mechanics makes complete sense now! |

" Hi, Do you mind answering if Event Horizon is also supposed to interact as a 'hit' and interrupt ES? |

" Keep in mind that while PoE1 and PoE2 share concepts, mechanics don't necessarily work the same between both games. PoE2 includes definitions for keywords. The defintions for Recharge and Energy Shield both refer to loss of Energy Shield interupting recharge, without requiring that loss be from damage or from hits. |
