Menagerie Beast Craft Preview Killed Me

When trying to beast craft with a:

LVL 81 Saqawine Vulture
Physical Resistant
Fast Energy Shield Recharge
Creates Frost Walls and Flees
Putrid Flight
Crimson Flock

The preview monster in the holding pen clips out into the arena and can kill me before hitting the craft button.

It then stays loaded in the arena and can kill me before interacting with the altar.

Selecting a different recipe causes it to despawn as usual.

My best guess would be the AI isn't disabled while in the holding cell and the flight animation allows it to clip through the door.
