Door in Vaal Pyramid map won't open due to essence monster

In a Vaal Pyramid map, there's a door that I can't open. I think it's due to an essence monster on the other side of the door, that is somehow preventing me from getting close enough to the door to interact with it.

If I just run against the door, my character also glitches slightly and is pushed slightly back.
