I have a Key input problem.
I recently really got back into poe I started late into the league playing Icenova of Frostbolts. I noticed when I'm holding my q key (icenova of frostbolts) and then I try to use any other spell instant or not it doesnt always work.
I dug around a bit looking and trying many solutions after reinstalling Poe1, updating drivers, disabled shadow play in nvidia. None of it helped. I also downloaded a keyboard overlay to see if maybe it was my keyboard, and it was not it showed I pressed the key but doesnt register in game. I play on low settings, Vulkan, predictive network, and window borderless. Also using awakened poe for trading/price check. not sure if this matters. I get 38 ping, and my fps is around 40-60 fps in game. My potato system specs are Gtx 1060 6GB Intel I5-6600k quad core 16gb of Ram SSD Kingston 240GB A400 SATA 3 2.5 Has 114gb of space left (Has windows Installed on) HDD Has 236gb of free space (Has Poe Installed on) Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this issue I'm currently having I'd apprecaite it. Heyhey,
your character setup probably has changed by now, but as of this moment I can't seen any instant Spells outside of Grace (+ Eternal Blessing). Quick note: I've played this type of character a couple times over the years and PoE for that matter. Reading about your gaming setup I like to suggest a few things you may or may not want to give a try. Even if you don't end up trying this, it may end up being helpful to someone else. @mods: if you feel there is too much "Bro-Science" in this post, feel free to remove any/all without notice, ty! Here it goes: 1. Hardware & More 1.1 SSD > HDD I would absolutely recommend to install PoE on a SSD. In this day and age a regular HDD won't cut it for most games (looking at you "Content.ggpk" file). I know it's a lot to ask from your Kingston 240GB SSD. 1.2 "Client.txt" If you've been playing PoE for a extended period of time this innocent looking file may slow down your system by "A LOT". It is what it says, but its it's size that matters. A plain text client log in *.txt format. Mine for example amassed over 128mb in size over the course of a year and I haven't been playing a whole lot in this time. I highly recommend making a backup of it, storing the backup somewhere safe and deleting or better re-naming the "Client.txt" in the original PoE folder. The next time PoE starts it will create a new "Client.txt" in it's place. Where to find "Client.txt" if you are using the PoE Client: Your-Drive:\PoE\logs 2. In-Game Settings & More General Graphic Settings Low Settings may not always give the expected result. Try out "Recommended Settings" and dial down from there. 2.1 Dynamic Culling & Dynamic Resolution I encountered many systems struggling with this. My recommendation: - Enable Dynamic Culling - Disable Dynamic Resolution 2.2 Ping/Latency If your connection is "relatively" stable (below) ~40-50ms, give Lockstep over Predictive for your in-game network setting a try. 2.3 Audio Settings Microsoft Windows and audio devices in PoE 1 had it's fair share of differences. It got a lot better, but I still recommend on lower end systems to try out lowering the Audio Channel count if nothing else helps. This will most definitely result in audio glitches if there is a lot going on on the screen! Best of luck exile! |

Thanks you for your help. I'll try all of these steps you've given me.
To comment on the instant spells. I bought a level 1 Frostblink and tested it with that, I also bought a level 1 flame dash (I know its not instant) and still had the problem with it being unresponsive. But I havent played a few days, so I just noticed your message I'll get back to you once I've tried all these steps and let you know if any of them fixed my issue. Thank you again for the advice and I hope to report good news! |
