Reporting Scam of Kalandra's Touch Ring

Hello, I am sending this to report a scam that just occured.

[Removed by Support]

[Removed by Support] contacted my friend [Removed by Support] on his character [Removed by Support] for a sale for his Kalandra's Touch Ring.

[Removed by Support] wanted a friend of [Removed by Support] to verify the ring was real by having him trade the ring to me, and I give a link. They also wanted us to meet them in Clearfell.

Which we did.

Then who I thought was [Removed by Support] opened a trade with me, I gave him back his ring so he could finish the trade. Only to find out that this was not my friend but [Removed by Support] friend or seperate account made a new toon named [Removed by Support] to trick us.

Luckily I was recording and was able to go back and get screen shots.

Here is a screen shot of [Removed by Support] in my party.

And the name of his friend who helped scam us

For context why I didn't notice the name change and other things.

I suffer from a TBI, Traumatic Brain Injury, this can cause me to see and perceive things different especially if I feel like there is any kind of stress.

I hope these two players will be dealt with and my friend is compensated for his loss.
Sorry for posting again, but this just makes me feel sick, as there is no proper way for me to make my friend whole, or to compensate what has happened.

Maybe if there was an In-game Brokering system. Using the current system of putting items in your stash under Public stash and just like now you mark your asking price.

Then other players go to a NPC Merchant, opens a window much like the website allows them to search for certain items and items with certain stats, and it shows them all and the asking price.

Players then buy through the merchant, the currency then appears in selling players Public Stash or their Currency tab.

This way selling can be done while online or offline.
Sorry this happened to you.

The best way is simply to trade like normal. You put the ring, they put the currency.

There is no need to involve a 3rd player or any other nonsense. It's a straightforward trade.

In future if any player tries to talk you into an extra situation they are probably scamming as there is really no need for it.

PS: I recently had a scamming attempt where the buyer put in 100 Orb of Alchemy instead of 100 Divine orbs. Instant trade cancel, kick from party, block.
I mean thats unfortunate but you gotta pay attention to who your trading with and what they put into the trade window

if you didn't catch the switch in character name then you infact got scammed go that's what they wanted to happen, gotta pay attention man, hard inspect things like that

Yeah, my friend and I discussed this. There was a few things that could have been done.

First being if they want to make sure the item is real and not hacked by having multiple people trade and link it, we can do those types of trades and links while in the Guild Hideout to make sure they or no one else interfers with our trading.

Second to make it so valuable trades like that happen in Hideouts, so there isn't a bunch of other people showing up and running around.

Thirdly for myself and my friend to be more Verbal and double checking things. As stated I have a brain injury so, double checking things when in what is a stressful situation for me and having my friends make sure I triple check.

Thank you for your comment and advise, it is appreciated.

I do my best to try and make sure I am seeing what I am seeing.

But stated above, I do have a brain injury and it effects my eyes, vision and comprehending what I am seeing. Two years ago this would not have happened, I would have caught this.

So, yes, I missed the the name change, which is my bad. I even remember triple checking the name. But I was wrong. All I can do is try to do better next time, but go about things with better steps to try and make sure this doesn't happen again.

Thank you for your comment.

Also update, GGG contacted me, I could post their E-mail here, maybe I will. If I do I will remove this part of the posting. They apologized this happened, and said they would take note of these account and character names, and if the people get more reports for such behavior it will stack against them and they will be dealt with in a manner of their choosing. They pushed for more people reporting.

They also stated they do not mix themselves in Player trade disputes, because they lack the man power to investigate each issue.

Which means my friend and are up crap creek without a paddle, the scammers basically get away with preying on players a handful of times until they get multiple reports placed against them.

Its aggravating, but nothing can be done, except try to avoid scammers.

It seems they are removing the names of the accounts that scammed my friend and I, I would think they should keep those names up if anything so people know who to avoid.
Sry to hear what happened - but this here is something everyone rly need to learn and start doing:

"

PS: I recently had a scamming attempt where the buyer put in 100 Orb of Alchemy instead of 100 Divine orbs. Instant trade cancel, kick from party, block.

be paranoid. be vigilant. double confirm. if a buyer or seller is pushy or asks to meet somewhere else than hideout -> NO DEAL. block, move on.
the more ppl that block these scammers, the better.

Regarding your TBI:
if I have an insanely high value item to trade or buy - I will be in discord and stream to a friend. they will doublecheck my screen with me if everything is all right.

The system is how it is (at least for now). so find ways to make it easier for u!
scams do happen and waste a lot of time. high end items i go through 10 people trying to scam before i sell the item. seems like reports do nothing

100%, sadly it was a harsh lesson learned, but even with my brain damage, I can sometimes learn from my mistakes.

I will keep your advice in mind, thank you so much.

Yeah, lets hope they add a better system in the future, until then stay vigilant.
