Corpsewade slowing me down

In Ogham Village. Wearing the Corpsewade boots. The poison gas from decaying corpses is slowing me down, which it did not do in previous area. Gas does not damage me though. Just slows me down, regardless of if I am in the gas cloud or not. Slow down starts immediately, even if outside of gas cloud initial eruption.
