DOT Builds feels bad
I'm not an expert in PoE or PoE2. Arguably, you could say I'm a "casual Player" because I have a full-time job and cannot put a significant number of hours daily into the game. I've played a lot of ARPGs, Diablo, Diablo 2, Champions of Norrath, Torchlight, etc, to name a few. I've also put about 700 hours into PoE 1 (Still feel like a noob). I'm not an expert because I acknowledge there are aspects of PoE and PoE2 I don't understand, which affect my builds. With PoE2, I've decided to take the approach of not following guides because I genuinely want to learn, experience, and "get good" at the game. That being said, it seems like damage over time builds are frowned upon or are somewhat nuanced in the mechanisms to function. I think this is very present in the new Lich ascendancy for witch. My perception was the new Witch ascendancy was intended to be a DoT curse based character yet the number of curses as well as the function of the curses feels lack luster. From memory i belive theres only 4 or 5 actual curses in the "Occult" skill tree and the function of them and mana costs feels punishing. DD (Direct Damage) builds seem to be the encouraged and supported builds. It would be nice to see more DoT skills (curses, hexes etc) with a variety of effects with immediate application ( no time delay) so DoT builds can be as viable as direct damage builds. I find debuff and Dot characters and builds fun and it would be nice to see them celebrated, embraced, and supported in PoE 2. Not going to stop playing, would just be nice to be able to play a variety builds from the DoT archetype i enjoy so much. Thank you GGG for creating such an amazing game, keep up the great work. I look forward to many many years of learning and exploring your game of Poe2.
