Lets talk about "The Vision"

Seriously this time....

It feels like "The Vision" is a Souls-like, that plays like an ARPG.
Lets investigate this perspective....

"Souls-like" infers solid gameplay, with rewarding elements for victory. AT ITS CORE..

"ARPG" infers solid gameplay, AS a reward for knowledge of the way the game works.

ARPGs all work the same. THE SAME!! Stop trying to change the WHEEL!!!
Change is painful, and often does not work.
You aren't amazing, you are just GGG... you are human. and you are making an ARPG. Make POE3 a solid SOULs-like and milk the profits. YOU WILL WIN. You can MAKE a Souls-like.. You did IT!!!! Now lets see if it ACTUALLY has an audience when you DONT attach ARPG to it!?

Seriously, REMOVE ARPG and SEE if you still have a player base.
You might, for a couple months..... but it would fall off and you need a new game. Like every other Souls-like Franchise.

STOP trying to be something you AREN'T.

BE YOU!! WE LOVE YOU!

Saying PoE2 is anything close to wanting to be a souls-like game is marketing. They have reached there market cap, they need new players, Souls players are the most likely to try a game out with a similar aesthetic. This game is as much dark souls as it is ren and stimpy.

I think this is a genuinely interesting perspective and definitely worth considering. One thing I really appreciated was the clear definition of what “souls-like” means in this context—it helps ground the discussion and makes sure we’re all on the same page.

In short, I support this viewpoint and agree that we should probably start steering the design more toward a traditional ARPG identity.

That said, just to play devil’s advocate—while it’s true the current direction isn’t quite hitting the mark, that doesn’t necessarily mean the devs can’t pull off something bold and unexpected. Maybe they really can forge a new sub-genre that blends souls-like elements with ARPG roots. It seems unlikely right now, but impossible? Not necessarily.
It's trying to be to much, Is my idiotic point..
Yeah, this is what I was thinking too—it’s pretty bizarre to see people seriously comparing PoE2 to Dark Souls. That’s exactly why, as I mentioned in my reply below, it was so important to clearly define what we mean by "souls-like" in the first place.

If you let go of your personal idea of what you think a souls-like game is, and instead use the actual definition provided, the OP’s point becomes a lot more understandable.

Oooooo I absolutely AGREE, but experimentation at MY personal expense is a tuff pill to swallow. Signing up for EA was SWALLOWING the pill, and there was a PAYMENT for the PRIVALEGE to swallow the pill. Right now I'm dealing with paying for the idea of being part of the experiment. Sometimes there are adverse reactions that were not part of the original agreement.

TLDR: NEVER EVER EVER do an EA.... EVER....

AGREED! It should NOT be DARK souls OR Ren and Stimpy... It SHOULD be what IT IS!!! An ARPG!!!

Haha, I feel you, brother! That EA rollercoaster can definitely be a wild ride. But hold up, I’ve got a doozy for you. When Wolcen came out, I jumped in at the alpha stage (back when it had a different name), thinking I was getting in on the ground floor of something awesome. The devs promised a HARDCORE mode, which as a strictly HC player, was the reason I signed up. It was going to be intense, adrenaline-pumping, the whole shebang!

Fast forward to launch, and bam—they canned the HC mode. I was heated. I sent my support, made pledges, sent in feedback, hoping every patch would bring it back, but nope. Years later... to this very day... still no HC mode. Just a whole lot of empty promises. Guess we’re both veterans of the EA heartbreak club. 🙃
