PoE 2 Causing BSOD / Black Screen PC Restarts
I've been playing Dawn of the Hunt recently in the last couple weeks and since I've had my pc BSOD 4 times, and I've also had it black screen force restart 2 times. I have 35hs in the last 2 weeks on steam to give you an idea of how frequently this is occurring. The following are my PC specs.
Intel i9 10850k NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070FE 32GB g.skill tridentz Gigabyte Z490 Vision G x2 SAMSUNG 970 EVO 1TB NVMe Windows Version: 24H2 NVIDIA Version: 572.83 The occurrences are quite random. Sometimes I can play the game for 6+hrs until it happens and other times, I've had it happen at the character selection screen. The other issue is that it doesn't create a dump file of the crash for some reason. When I open the event viewer it shows: Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation. BugCheckProgress was: 0x00060049 Event viewer also shows the following: The description for Event ID 56 from source Application Popup cannot be found. Either the component that raises the event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: ACPI 2 The message resource is present but he message was not found in the message table. The only thing I can figure out from what I've read online is that it's some kind of driver incompatibility that's causing the issues. The last time I had something similar happen it was caused by the SteelSeries GG driver and after uninstalling it the problem went away. However, that instance I had a dump file to help me investigate whereas now I'm in the dark. If anyone can lend a helping hand or has any other tips to delve deeper into what's causing this, I would gladly appreciate the help, thank you! Last bumped on Apr 18, 2025, 12:59:09 PM

Got to play about 2hrs this time before receiving the same BSOD with an error of SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Once again to the dump file could not be created due to an error. I know this has to be a game issue as I've not had any problems with any other games I play, just PoE 2. I will continue to update this threat until I either find a solution or am provided with feedback regarding this issue. Last edited by IMAVIRGIN1g#0667 on Apr 13, 2025, 7:21:36 PM

" I get the same event viewer error when I blue screen. I played all last week and they did the hotfixes and It started doing random hard restarts to my pc during gameplay, now my computer won't launch poe2 without me getting bsod now. Temps are fine and no other game has issues. |

Even after the patch yesterday I'm still crashing. Albeit there was nothing in it about fixing any MAJOR ISSUES, one can be hopeful. I got to play about 20min before my screen went black and my PC froze. I really would like to see an update on this matter.
EDIT: This most recent crash has seemed to do some damage to my PC. My PC is now much slower, and windows are lagging around. I will never touch this game again. Last edited by IMAVIRGIN1g#0667 on Apr 16, 2025, 7:15:47 PM

Was having bad crashes before, massive frame drops, BSOD, system lock ups, etc . NIS didn't help much (Intel's version of DLSS, suggested in another thread) , but after this mornings Nvidia update I finally had a 40 minute session running smooth the whole time. Still have NIS enabled, will try switching back to DLSS later on after work.

I tried switching on DLSS and it played smoothly for around 20 - 30 minutes, then got sudden Frame Drops, it looked like i was getting disconnected (started showing elements of the title menu) , then i got a BSOD. Might try again with NIS on instead and if it crashes again then i guess i gotta take a break from the game till they fix it.

Another Blue Screen Of Death, NIS ( which is not by intel, that's Xess ) didn't help, and neither did the update (game or drivers) Back to Monster Hunter I guess.

I've tried changing all of that as well and it didn't help me. I played 2 nights ago for about 2-3 hrs. and thought maybe one of the changes fixed it. However, the next evening after work I got to play for about 30min before I got the black screen lock-up. I stated in my edit prior that my PC had become very laggy upon restarting it.
I ended up having to reformat completely because windows could no longer access directories or files that existed prior to the crash. I'm now on a fresh install and haven't upgraded to Windows 11 and don't plan to until it's mandatory. I have not installed PoE 2 again though considering the damage it had done when the game crashed. I have never in my 25yrs of PC gaming had a game do anything close to that. Since reformatting I've been playing Last Epoch, Dark and Darker, DotA 2, and many other games with zero issues whatsoever. I know there will be people saying, 'oh your nvme is failing', 'your gpu is failing', 'your processor is failing'. I've done all the stress tests possible since reformatting and not a single component has shown any reason for possible failure. The simple fact is my PC crashed due to PoE 2 + Windows + NVIDIA driver + whatever else they're saying it is, and it caused the issue. It's unfortunate that it seems to be more of a minority of players who are experiencing this as it's not been properly addressed and looked into. Otherwise, I would assume a patch would be out already. Last edited by IMAVIRGIN1g#0667 on Apr 18, 2025, 1:00:06 PM
