South African Server lag from 5pm GMT+2 until 11pm GMT+2 Daily
Getting severe server lag on South African servers from 5pm GMT+2 until 11pm GMT+2 Daily. Becomes completely unplayable and gradually gets worse. Guess it relates to server capacity.
MS hovering around 20ms during the day, but then ranges from 70ms to 350ms (not consistent). i7-9700k, 16GB DDR 4, Radeon RX6800 Majority of graphical setting on low and FPS around 140 in hideout, rarely drops below 60fps, so it's not frame lag. ![]() Last edited by FalconRSA#1598 on Apr 16, 2025, 2:43:28 PM Last bumped on Apr 24, 2025, 1:03:51 PM

" There are always a lot of ping related issues here about many servers. Sometimes the issue can be identified by doing a WinMTR per GGG's steps below. Just be aware that the issue you're experiencing can be attributed to many factors such as server issues, routing problems to the game server between your PC and the server, or your own ISP's network. The fact that you're experiencing this as specific times of the day would generally indicate a network bottleneck/network congestion or server load issues. Do this test when you're experiencing issues during these times to hopefully narrow down what's going on https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1377789 |

Hey fellow Saffer. Cant say that I experience the same thing via Vumatel Fibre/CoolIdeas service. I have less than 10ms ping - usually sub 8ms and I play around the times you are suggesting there is a problem.
Assuming your system isnt doing some kind of weird backup/automated tasks in background or someone else on your local network connection sucking up bandwidth then I would guess its your external network. You dont say what connection you are using so its hard to guess at what could be specific to your setup but to get such a high ping by comparison seems to me that there is a network issue on your side - its suspiciously like the typical after work netflix streaming ramp up and your network/ISP is struggling at that time with interconnects to whereever GGG is hosting the SA server(s). Or if you are using wireless or a mobile network, similar issues could be happening related to congestion etc. Over 300h now and the only time I have ever experienced your level of ping is when there is a server reboot / patch or a known network error (e.g. vumatel or cool for me). I'd recommend doing the winmtr that the other poster suggested to try and see where there is a bottleneck happening. Last edited by Vapourfire#6939 on Apr 16, 2025, 5:50:47 PM

Thanks for all the responses.
100mbps fiber with VOX and Vumatel. Routing from CPT, if that helps. Have no issues in other games (e.g. CS2). |

Still the same a week after original post. Only time we have to play after work, and can't play due to high ping. Seems like the server needs to be upgraded or reset.
