Reliquary vault no portals

I opened the reliquary vault and it consumed my key but did not open any portals. I was in a group and I was not the party leader when I did it. I spent 2 million gold at the ventor strongbox to get the key so it kinda sucks not getting anything at all from it. I also had a map I hadn't completed opened when I used it.
