Altar of Ascendancy not highlighted if Temple of Chaos completed before Trial of Sekhema

I started a new character and zoomed through the first 3 acts without worrying about my ascendancy. I held on to both Quest versions of the Trials and ran the Temple of Chaos first thinking it would grant me 4 points.

- Ran Temple of Chaos first
- Received two ascendancy points and no more
- Ran Temple of Chaos again, did not receive my next ascendancy points
- Run Quest version of Trial of Sekhema, at the end of the run the Alter of Ascendancy and the portal to exit were not highlighted and could not be targeted for action.
- Used a Town Portal and the Trial ends but the quest still tells me to click on the Alter.
- Talk to Balbala and she gives me another Quest trial.
- Talk to Sin to refund my ascendancy points.
- Run the Trial again, still unable to click on the Alter of Ascendancy or the portal at the end.
- Leave trial via progress map, trial ends. Quest: Ascent to Power remains incomplete.

Is my character's ascendancy bricked?
