Leaving corrupted nexus for loot made map reset

I tried my first corrupted nexus. There is no help that says you must use 4-affix waystone (I googled). I was doing ok, no death but full inventory. So I teleported to hideout and emptied to stash. The mal device showed no portals but showed yellow status and said map was in progress. I made another rare waystone and reentered, but there was no corrupted nexus or expedition anymore.. bummer waste of mats and opportunity. Now I must search another
