Disengage was the tutorial for Frozen Locus
Back when I started as a 0.1 monk (who went Acolyte of Chayula so never experienced blasting), I looked at Frozen Locus and wondered what its purpose was. The solitary ice crystal it made looked sad, the chilled ground it made spread so slowly.
Now with Parry/Disengage plus shield bash in the game and Frozen Locus being buffed to be an interrupt, I re-evaulated what its purpose is. It's how the monk "blocks" just in time. Just as the ideal parry has minimal impact on offense time, I'm getting the timing down so I just about don't see the ice crystal since the enemy destroys it immediately. Spear whirlwinds also make the chilled ground useful when it was so meagre before. Holy Descent is bugged on it: I can slot it in but I don't get the consecrated ground to spawn. Unlike Disengage which does spawn it. I do wonder if Disengage and Frozen Locus should get support gems to change how much you jump back by. Also how fast the chilled ground spreads for the latter.
