What is the point of this game? Pls explain.

For the love of god, please someone explain what is the point for this game? I´m a veteran of POE 1 and i have tried to love this game through its early stages, but I just cannot bare it anymore, there just does not seem to be any point or vision to it.
With 5+ days playtime in 0.2.0, few characters in endgame i don´t get what we´re supposed to achieve here. Well over 200 T15 maps in I am coming back with a bunch of transmutations, maybe a regal shard if i´m very lucky. No perfect jewellers, crap gear and no resources to make any improvements. 200+ maps with 0 divs and so few exalted that developing gear seems like a bad joke. At least I get to haul back tons of items, just to find them competing with each other in light radius. Economy is so effed up that nothing will sell and no one will answer for buy whispers. Even the so called crafting is a total gamba and you dont even have enough mats for that. Fun times.
So, if mapping is totally pointless, how are we supposed to make bank? Is the point of the game for us all to become hideout warriors, as that seem to be the only solution to make ANY currency. Good luck with competing with the pro currency dealers who spam you with real money currency deals for weeks after trying to trade with them.
Please someone, tell me there is light in the end of the tunnel!

Yes atm there is no loot, no currency.

Nothing to grind for, no dopamine.
There is no loot. For some reason GGG are insanely stingy with loot. Bizarre. Personally, I think they need a change of leadership or a change of direction. Jonathan might like making an all-suffer, no reward pain simulator but that drop to 36% on steam should tell them something.

Doesn't need to be D4, doesn't need to be so extreme in the other direction either. Kiss/curse design is terrible and unpopular.
Console loot filter for POE2 Please!
I totally agree. They urgently need to change direction/leadership. People isnt enjoying the game at all, 0.2 is much much worse than 0.1 and far far far away from POE1. Pointless to do pinnacle bosses (for what? Shitty items after nerf). Rituals are useless too now. Expedition has always been a joke. Breaches is simply a splinter pick up game... Everything is nerfed to bottom. No dopamine, no motivation. Nothing provides decent reward for your time investment. Have they actually played their own game?

Last Epoch have currently more players than this shitty game they made. From 250k players 2 weeks ago when season started to the currently 65k and going down super fast as people is realising this game is a scam. Anyone who played POE1 tells you the same: they fucked up an amazing game.

What are they waiting for... to noone play POE2 anymore to actually do some changes anb bring the fun back again?

Me and my friends have stopped playing already. We saw the dark direction where the game was turning to and 2 weeks after we confirmed it.

Please GGG, listen to your community, the game sucks so badly at its current state. To finish, would like to point out I am so sad to say all this.

Kind regards!
Yeah, I farmed like a 50 t16 rituals so far -> 1 divine, 3 chaos, 1 invitation to the king. No meaningful omens (not like I could use it anyway, because I haven't seen a single orb of annulment this season so far).
Farming 20 or so expeditions for 3-4 tries at the recombinator all resulting in losing the few items with top tier mods on them. Yay!
Found a single fracturing orb and watching it fixing the a completely useless modifier, because of course this has to be random too. How else would you feel the friction?
I am stuck with a warrior double wielding two-hand maces that could easily be doubled or even tripled in damage. Rings are from Alva where I sink my gold in to gamba for rings, since it seems to be the only decent option.

I am tired boss. The vision seems to be to suck out all the fun from the game. I agree that this game might need a change in leadership if they want to salvage this. No one asked for Ruthless on steroids, it was a failure in PoE1 already. All punishment no rewards is simply not fun.
I feel like they did a pretty good job explaining the point on their Steam page.

The game is unfinished, the classes are incomplete, and the economy isn't balanced yet. They were up front about all of that.

I was super excited when Baldur's Gate 3 released in Early Access in October 2020, but as soon as I tried to play it I knew it wasn't something I wanted to experience in that state. I closed it down, uninstalled it, and honestly didn't spend much time worrying about it until it came out almost three years later. Then I played the absolute shit out of it and loved every second of it and it will go down as one of my all-time favorite games.

For an analogy from another medium, go listen to Brandon Sanderson talk about his Beta Reader program; he has an exclusive group of people who get advance copies of his books so they can read them and offer feedback. Any time people ask about joining the program the first thing he tells them is that if they become a Beta reader they will not enjoy his books as much. He warns them that reading unpolished versions is less satisfying while also spoiling the plot. He is basically asking people to sacrifice their time and enjoyment of the final product for his benefit.

Likewise GGG is asking you to play a janky and unfinished version of PoE2 for their benefit. Like reading an unfinished book, playing an unfinished game is obviously going to be less fun and less satisfying than playing it in its final form.

The great news is, if you're really this upset by the experience absolutely nobody is forcing you to participate.

If you do choose to participate, just understand that feedback like "Last Epoch has more players than this shitty game" is not going to contribute anything of substance to the final product.

The game isn't in his peak at this moment.
GGG needs to release mkre classes, more patches and more seasons, they game will be complete in 1 year +- i guess.
POE1 is a great game, but when they just release it, it was not popular as well, huge games needs polish all the time.

I hqve to agree about the favt that POE2 pqtxh 0.2.0f is a total FAIL.
Specially because there is no loot, crafting is meant to fail each time you randomly try to hit a stat you actually need, pinaccle bosses drops are pointless and trash, 90% of the uniques are trash, orb of annulment which is superrr important for crafting is more rare than a Divine.. and i can go on.

But time will fix all our issues with the game
I actually roll toons based on the loot I get. I mean I start off with something that can "farm" first and then as I get the "epic loots" I flesh out a class build based on that.

Problem is the epic loot is scarce and the shine wears thin after you outlevel your gear and progress slows.
Great points guys, I appreciate your comments. I just wanted to clarify my thoughts a bit after the worst frustration is now vented out with good nights sleep.

I totally understand our role as lab rats, that´s what I signed up for in early access. Now is the time to test the extremes before the game goes live.

So, you want the game to slow down. No problem, I´m willing to claw my way through the dungeons at snails pace. Just don´t permastun me that often, ok?

Use combos, they say. So what, I used to piano all 5 flasks for how many seasons before we could automate them. Throw it at me.

Mobs should be tougher and the fights longer. Leeeet´s go. As long as its more skill based than pure rng, I´m down. Maybe just give us a little slack to due to lag issues...

End game feels a bit lacking. Sure, it´s a work in progress, I get it. Just like in POE1 the endgame will eventually diversify and offer interesting avenues for different builds and playstyles.

You offer us map mechanics that shine in the open space - and then you cram them to the tightest nooks and crannies the game engine can generate. Well, that´s just not cool :)

The thing that makes me worry is the (current) total lack of reward for actually playing the game and the rng-ness of things. Videos of flipping items and playing the markets are trending, but it is exactly this kind of day-trader mentality I want to escape for a while, just enjoying playing the game.

Being pigeonholed to play only certain builds will change later, I´m sure, but the total lack of agency I feel makes me frustrated. I´m willing to grind for my currency, but if that is not an option, then what? How am I supposed to progress to harder (and maybe more rewarding?) content if I don´t have any tools at my disposal? As the crafting is not deterministic (IMHO at least), the amount of mats you need is substancial and spending your non-existent drops to brick a promising base over and over again is, well, not very rewarding.

I hope that the current extreme economic austerity is just a test phase, but I cannot see the point in setting the dial to 0. There is not much to learn from that, unless the vision is to turn the game to a trading simulator.

I´ll take a deep sip of copium now and go back waiting for the next iteration of the game. I hope all the best for the developers and want to thank the POE community for their efforts in creating the best ARPG for the decades to come.

the reality is in an arpg if you trade for gear the price you pay is 'no gear drops'.

thats how it works, the moment you go to the market you are giving up ever finding meaningful amounts of gear because your standard for items will obviously be shifted way beyond the drop system.

that cant be fixed by the drop rates because the drop rates feed the market, the items you find can never be better than searching the excess items 100,000 people have found. the only way to fix that is not trading for gear.

if you want a nice happy middle ground then just use the currency exchange to exchange basic currency.

never trade gear, never trade content access, do exchange every divine you find for 130 exalts and trade 20 of them for 60 regals. then find your own gear, craft your own gear, have fun, reset your standards of how perfect your gear should be and what number is on the map tier you are able to 1 shot everything in. youll find yourself in the game you want to play where all the gear you have you found/crafted yourself, you have 100s of exalts and regals on hand to spam things, any item that drops has a legit chance to be an upgrade for you. its fun.

trading for gear destroys that sort of game, its not possible once you start trading for items. it creates another kind of game and those who enjoy the trading game, power to them. i enjoyed it a lot in poe1. 30 tabs open, woops going off every few minutes, hideout warrior. if you dig it then cool, but the people who dig it are in game doing it not on the forum complaining theyre not digging the game. for those people i think stop shooting yourselves in the foot by trading for gear.

im playing with my partner, were usually self found but were testing just using the exchange this league to see how it feels. were level 80, all our gear is found/crafted, havent traded for a single piece of gear. we just reached t6 maps, we both have 300-400 exalts and about 100 regals in our stashes and were regaling and exalting multiple items after every map. loot feels great, really rewarding, we find stuff all the time.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
