Campaign Maps are still to much searching and kinda boring

Campaign Maps/Areas are still too much searching for your objective. And overall pretty boring. The issue is multifaceted.

First Part of the issue is that the Maps are sometimes simply to big.

Second part of the issue is maps diversity. I dont mean visually i mean on how they work. Its mostly one big Blob of area where exits to other Areas are mostly at the Border and sometimes somewhere in the map.
Because its mostly random where areas are that are not at the edges you get a lot of area thats empty of anything useful.
One Mpa has a better approach. Its Halani Gates. Its more ngaging, its less searching and more linear. Halani Gates is a very good and fun Map to play. You get a sense of progression on it. While you dont get a sense of progression while you are searching sth. on a map.

Third Part of the issue is the movement speed of your character. It feels like the areas are designed for a faster movement speed than we are capable of.

Forth Part of the issue is dead ends. GGG did get rid of some of them, but its still very much an issue. Its not long dead ends, but even just small ones are just annoying.

Fifth part is that finding objectives is well mostly only search. You cant find it by following hints on the map. (Some areas do have this, but its the minority)
With 0.2 Clearfell got an update and its a very good one. Mud Barrow is now way easier to find and the area got a bit more directional. You actually have hints where you can find Mud Barrow. Not that it was hard to find before because the area was already pretty small.

Bump

The worst part is that i can't even imagine how big act 5 and 6 are going to be, at this rate the campaign is going to take forever to finish
I want to elaborate a bit on the Fourth Point.

I went and discovered Grium Tangle here and marked areas that are just mostly redundant. All areas are marked with a number.

Area 1 and 2 are just there for what? Its an actually pretty huge dead end. That has no function at all. Also what is Delwyn doing there. There isnt a wisp.

Area 3 and 5 are small dead ends. That are a bit annoying. But fine. I would make them smaller. Similar to the one opposite of Area 3.

Area 4 is a middle ground between the 2 and can be removed or simply turned into a small one.

What i would change in Grim Tangle:
Grim Tangle is a good candidate for a more linear approach. Your Goal is to get to the Cemetery. I would shrink the possible amount of Paths and then lead the Character always through the Area with the Shaman. You can bypass him by just running past to the exit. That way you shrink the Map significantly. Its not something you can do to every area, but here its possible and its a better way to do it for me. You simply remove all of this + the dead ends that i didnt mark here.

They are well aware of campaign issues. If you don't like campaign, its because it's not fun enough, so they will add more mazes and make it harder.
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`

Huh?? I dont get what youre pointing at.
I think he's being sarcastic because of Jonathan's reasoning and solutions to everything.

Made up example being "if your finding the game really lagging, maybe it's not the servers. It could be because the alignment of the moon effects the consistency of peanut butter so we need to add more monsters to block out the moon"

Guy overthinks everything to a rediculous level lol
I posted about this same thing after 0.2 idk how many times already, and honestly, I doubt they will change anything at this point since there wasn't a single word about map layouts and they probably think it's fine now

Yeah i posted it multiple times in 0.1 too.

They completely ignored the feedback about map size. Its so extremely frustrating. After 0.2 release they changed some stuff, but its by far not enough.
I agree to an extend that maps in the campaign can be pretty big. However it has to stay maze-like and not becoming linear maps, now that would be very boring.

Yea, maze is such a good design choice for a layout. How could I have fun doing campaign without bumping into 7 dead ends that waste 30 minutes for nothing every map

It's so fun
