New PoE Player XP Loss Feedback
In the current state, I like the XP loss system, but it feels harsh and ends up making me stop playing.
Solution suggestion: - On death, n% of XP is lost. 25% is retained as gray XP. All gray XP is lost on death. - Gray XP: regains 25% faster. This way, there is some forward momentum, but it's not as punishing without information. The biggest frustration is death without knowing the cause or what the player could have done differently. The death screen should have damage taken and if you had % more resistance, how much less, and other details to help the player improve. Last bumped on May 7, 2025, 3:37:12 PM

Personally, I'd just like to see the XP loss on death limited after losing 100% of that level's XP due to deaths (cumulative).
I think it's fine to have the loss on death, and for it to be painful and meaningful (realistically, it's not that big of a deal before level 85-ish). But I think it should be capped - i.e. a truly poor player can still reach max level with enough determination, it will just take them 2x as long as a good player. This feels like it still rewards good play, but leaves the door cracked open for the bad-but-determined players. |

Strongly agreed here. The current system punishes players for taking risks where it should be adding meaning to accomplishment. My only fear about a cap is once risk has a limit, then it becomes a race to the bottom. |
