NEVER GO THROUGH STEAM

I have been up to now using steam as my platform for PoE1 and PoE2.

I have also up until now had visually missing enemies, effects, and traps kill me at every turn late game.

I just downloaded the launcher and deleted PoE from my steam. Then I went to my account setting on the site and added my email so I can login that way.

I can now clear maps with no issues.

Just so you know how bad it was I literally got a duplicate creek boss "Tierney, The Hateful" every time I did creek in PoE 2. I had two bosses with seperate healthbars every time. FIXED NOW.

PS I feel like Steam owes me a whole lot for the amount of absolute bulls*it I have had to endure for years. Chat gaslighting me that I just sucked when invisible enemies were killing me that didn't even contribute to the map count. I would be happy to settle with 10,000,000,000 points for the microtransaction shop.
Yeah, no.

I'm happy to believe that you removed one installation of the game and a fresh one has had few-to-no issues while your prior one had a plurality. But the takeaway from that shouldn't be "Steam bad." Maybe having Steam verify the game's files would've resulted in it detecting corrupted files and replacing them. Maybe your drive has one or more bad sectors and just by random chance the prior install utilised one or more while the current one happens not to - so far, at any rate.

Valve owes you nothing. Without meaning to be rude, it's frankly ridiculous to insinuate that all Steam users are plagued with invisible enemies, no standalone client users have invisible enemies, and that you and you alone were able to figure this out. Something else is going on here.

My friend. I Verified and reinstalled multiple times through the years over multiple computers. It's Steam. And I see people talk about random nothings killing them all the time in in game chat. Random crap that just kills you when you get too high a level has been a conspiracy for years. Also Steam owing me was an obvious joke. Or did you really think I was asking for some sort of payment equivalent for a billion dollars?
Sounds a lot like this:

It's not necessarily a steam thing but different installations are still different.
There's a few other known settings like this that'll make the game run smoother if you're having issues like disabling sound rather than just muting it.

It's Steam.

I struggle to see how people can be this narrow minded.

So, switching from the Steam client to the Standalone client fixed it for you. That doesn't necessarily mean that the Steam client was the problem. The majority of players play on Steam, and the majority of those players doesn't experience the problems you are referring to. Why is that if Steam is the problem? I've played on Steam for 10+ years and I've never even heard of those problems.

So, you should probably make a title like "IF(!) you're experiencing problem X or Y, try switching - it worked for me", instead of "NEVER STEAM!", based on your, narrow experience on the matter.
