Hobbled is a Terrible Mechanic

I'm in Act 2, cruel. When I began doing Mastodon Badlands, I noticed I was starting to get one-shot a lot. I wasn't dying, but my eva/es suddenly became completely useless because a single hit debuffs my evasion by almost 100%, till the TWELVE-SECOND debuff hits and I have no evasion. With no evasion, my ES gets nuked. A hit from even trash mobs refreshes it.

I'm a lvl 56 chaosfrost melee lich with spear and buckler. This build nukes so far. I've been having a blast, but now I can't use half my skills because I'll get nuked in only a few hits. So now all I can do is kite with glacial lance while despair and contagion DoT, then hexblast. This is annoying because my build relies on freezing, while not being able to melee kneecaps my DPS. My fangs of frost skill does about 1200 DPS., After a parry, a single strike freezes almost everything in one or two strikes when I have three stacks of whirling slash.

The build annhilates, but now I'm getting my butt kicked and forced to play in a very unsatisfying manner. I like kiting, but this is terrible game design. I shouldn't be kiting because of a stupid constant debuff that I can get from any enemy, regardless of whether it's a boss or fodder. I lost over half my DPS.

This is a serious momentum killer. It absolutely ruined the game for me. I literally get a feeling of unwellness when I log on now. Like I'm doing something extremely unpleasant, but I have to do it anyway. That's terrible game design. This isn't a matter of git gud. I could keep playing and progressing, but now it's an extremely unfun, unpleasant process that I would otherwise expect compensation for. I know this isn't going to change anytime soon, if ever, so I think I'm going to un-install.

This is why a lot of people stop using evasion and stack armor/block/es even on casters at a certain point.

You will get hit no matter what level evasion you have and if you don't have armor/es/block to mitigate the alpha strike of 15 white mobs who leap across the map edge as soon as they see you then it's going to be a slog.

This is also why people like me have been complaining about minions that never seem to grab aggro. Whereas Huntress companions are seemingly able to do.

Hobble is biased against evasion builds, so why use skills that cause it?
