need some help understanding Ignite support gem

just wondering… if I socket fire infusion to a skill that does no fire damage then socket ignite, will ignite increase the ignite chance of the fire damage applied by fire infusion. also will the chance of ignite from fire damage applied by my weapon also increase? I know the gems says “supports any skill that hits enemies” which prob means only skills that do fire damage but I’m still curious.

sorry I just realized I posted this to Poe 1 general discussion when it is Poe 2. I’m very unskilled with forums in general so I am unsure how to delete this post.

I haven't played PoE2, but i can use some of my expirience to answer this question.

From PoE2 wikipedia i found: fire infusion add 25% of your damage as fire damage and halves cold and lightning damage (https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Fire_Infusion);

Ignite has 1% base chance to be applied per 4% of ailment threshold the hit deals (https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Ignite). I am still unsure if this count fire damage or all the damage;

I haven't found ignite support gem on wiki, but i guess it has "#% more/increased chance to ignite", which affect your base chance of ignite.

About "support any skill that hits enemies" line: it means, that if your skill hits enemies, it can be supported by this gem. If it states nothing about damage type of skill, this damage type doesn't matter.
