Let's talk about the current economic situation of POE2(Chinese player view)

`This is an article from a Chinese community, with many Chinese players. Some parts of this article discuss economy, but it does not mean that I support all his views, but some of them are worth reading.` Let's talk about the current economic situation of POE2 I played 4 accounts above level 90 this season, DeadEye is level 98, Blood Mage is almost level 95, and I have been AFK for more than a week. I feel very sad. Let's talk about how POE2 has moved towards deflation this season, and talk about my personal stories and feelings. If there are similarities, it is purely coincidental. If there are differences, please don't criticize me. 1. Benign inflation at the beginning of the season At the beginning of the season, the daily activity of players was said to have reached 200,000. At that time, there were many people, the market was active, and the economy was good. Even after more than a week, when I started a new account to play Amazon, the price of Sacred Flame Shrine Sceptre was still rising. It kept rising until before the BUG of the citadel. I bought Sacred Flame Shrine Sceptre three times, and every time I got tired of playing, I made a small profit of a few Div. Although Div has been depreciating, things have been selling. Valuable goods such as Sacred Flame Shrine Sceptre are a better way to fight inflation. If Div depreciates, then sell more Div, which is a value-preserving asset. Later, the demolition team demolished the citadel one after another, and the Div could not hold on. This player saw that I worked so hard for more than ten hours a day, but I couldn't get two Divs. The ascending channel was closed again. If you don't buy good equipment, you can't beat the BOSS. If you can't beat the BOSS, you can't earn Div. You can't earn Div by grinding a white map T15 every day. Those who speculated on Sacred Flame Shrine Sceptre made a lot of money, so the trade-man(People who make a living in this game from trading) began to withdraw. A few of the poor players in our group also ran away after finding that most BDs were electric spears and the drop problem was very serious. There is no way. If you don't play electric spears, you are less efficient than others, and you will get less income. Even if you play electric spears, you still have to work overtime to grind, otherwise inflation will make you work in vain and die. 2. Improvement of drops in the middle of the season OK, this GGG has a big problem. The economy has collapsed much faster than last season, and the prices are not as good as the old area. It's time to increase the drops. In fact, after they updated, I think they strengthened the drops for ordinary players, but there is actually no improvement for the middle-class and top players. The middle-class players are stuck in the middle. They want to buy things, but no one is selling them. Everyone thinks they are selling too cheaply. They want to raise the price. Anyway, Div is worthless, so why not wait a few more days and raise the price first? I just want to say that these people are all Fools. In a deflationary environment, they still raise prices, which is more terrible than deflation. This is called stagflation. If you want to sell things, the trade-man have run away. It’s not that good goods can’t be sold, but good goods can’t be obtained. The top players work hard every day, and the mirrors are produced one after another. They can circulate, but the speed of sales is also very slow. Then at this time, they are faced with such a situation: currency such as Div is still being produced, but no one consumes it, and it is still depreciating. Assets such as Sacred Flame Shrine Sceptre are unsold because no newcomers buy them. The top players have a top-grade chicken leg in their hands, but they can’t use it. They are unsalable, so they reduce the price and dump them. When the middle-class players saw it, they thought, damn, I spent half a day in the fortress and only got a chicken leg. It keeps depreciating and I might even lose money. So I don’t need to farm the fortress. Then the middle-class players also AFK. This kind of value-preserving assets also continue to depreciate in a deflationary environment, and the confidence of players is getting lower and lower. In fact, the top players are not afraid of inflation at all. Just look at the prices of goods in the old area and whether the goods are easy to sell. Good equipment is a good asset, which maintains and increases its value and circulates at any time. If someone plays it, someone will buy it. So deflation is really more terrible than inflation, because everyone thinks that things will be cheaper tomorrow. This chicken leg is 50D today, but it will become 40Divs tomorrow if it can’t be sold. So I will definitely sell the things in my warehouse as long as someone M. At this time, people who are reluctant to sell will probably have their things rotten in their hands. 3. When only one person has the final say in this game Jonathan made one wrong decision after another. Let’s take a closer look from the day when he thought that this game would be so damn good in the 0.2 interview. I remember the employee who resigned from GGG said that Jonathan just couldn't forget the god damn electric man special effect. No matter what weapon you use, even if the shadow assassin finally comes out and picks up the dagger, the most powerful skill will only be the electric skill. This has been confirmed in the past two seasons. ————Skill balance only favors his own taste. Then there is the problem of game mechanism. He thinks he is the leader of this type of game. He is so arrogant that he always crosses his legs. He changed the brush game into soul-game, and turned a market dominated by players and economy into a market dominated by policies. He supports which skills he wants to be strong. If you think which skills are too strong, he will find a reason to weaken it. The ice mage released last season did not care about the number of players at all. He directly cut off the head. Seeing that the players blasted his community, he realized that he could not provoke the masses of players below. Until this season, he had never really played the game himself. He designed the affixes and the rules of the game by himself. He tried to brush the 6 soul affixes of the fortress wolf king himself, and he was beaten to shit. In fact, if this game is honestly copied from POE1 and optimized, it will be very popular. He didn't do that. He copied the homework and complained that the handwriting of the person whose homework was copied was ugly, saying that his work was far ahead. No wonder outside players scolded that GGG has become a shell company dominated by Tencent (I will apply other people's views). So how do players deal with this situation? If your company is market-driven, then your work is excellent and players will support you. If it is personally-driven, and you don't listen to the opinions of the market at all, or even go against the market, then players will not play with him, and change the environment and game, because he doesn't play by the rules, he changes the rules of the game, and he has to bear the consequences himself. 4. What do I think of the changes that GGG will make in the future? At present, it is said that powerful runes and dark gold will be added. In the case of deflation, it is useless to just make some insignificant policies to persuade people to come back to consume, refresh new dark gold runes, and continue to produce Div. I hope Jonathan will not think like this: Isn't it good to produce more Div? Isn't it good if prices are low? All players can afford things. If he thinks like this, then he probably hasn't graduated from elementary school. If he doesn't listen to the players' opinions and still follows his ideas: [Fuck Soul Travel and Electric Man, and that damn Tower World, only weakening the players but not the boss, the boss can kill you 20,000 shields in one second. Or in other words, let the players not make the map according to his wishes, so they can't get Div, and play in vain. Only those very smart top players who can manipulate the market can play (probably some specific ideal player groups he hopes for), such as the warrior boss who won 4 consecutive racing championships. ] If these situations are not solved, the loss of players will probably not stop. 5. Evaluation of GGG I want to say that GGG is a good company, POE2 is also a good game, and there is no overtime in New Zealand. This kind of work-rest working environment is very conducive to creativity, plus the foundation of POE1 and the highly active community atmosphere. In fact, they have the conditions to make this game well. After all, it is not like Tencent, which plays a zero-sum game. After making a bad game, they continue to invest in the next game, and they don’t care whether we, the gamers, are happy, stressed, or have positive feedback. But the economy of this season is terrible. If the economy of the season can improve after 0.3 or even 1.0, I will call this period of time "POE2's lost months." The only way to curb inflation is to encourage players to USE the currency and thus repeatedly remove it from circulation.
When there are lots of divines floating around, they have little to no value. BUT, if people are actively using them in crafting, they become more rare. The issue is that crafting is bad. It's unexplained. It's out of reach for many "average" players. There's little likelihood of a regular player actually using a divine to craft, ergo the numbers in circulation go up and so does inflation. Crafting needs a considered new approach. "Rare" currency should be less of a gamble when used. Last edited by Jonboy_77#4792 on May 29, 2025, 10:11:28 AM

" This sounds more like the woes of a professional farmer trying to make real world money than a player for enjoyment. But don't worry economic forces work both ways. When a game is rising in popularity there is a greater demand for farmers to supply goods to the masses. The number of farmers will increase as farming is more profitable than normal in this growth phase. Until the number of farmers matches the demand for farming. Early farmers will make the most profit. When a game is declining in popularity there is less of a demand for farmers. POE2 is in a contraction phase. There is a lag effect though and farmers will have it pretty rough until farmers start quitting due to the low profit until the need for farmers more closely matches the number of farmers. Then at some point, assuming the market survives, the market will bottom and the demand for farmers will once again start increasing and the remaining farmers will make a good profit until more farmers start working. But it all happens with a lag and it is in this lag that either more or less profit than normal is made. How much supply each farmer can farm or how much demand there is for farmers is not really the determining factor, it is the imbalance between demand and supply that is important. But if one or the other changes quickly it usual creates an imbalance. Ironically, many markets have a seasonal component including POE2. For example, heating oil is very seasonal. This is called a cyclical market and is a pattern found in pretty much all markets that have a fluctuating demand for example housing. Unlike a product with a very stable demand like say a utility company that sells electricity. Welcome to free market capitalism! |

TL;DR
sorry... But I think the solution would be: more meanfull gear (it goes toe to toe with build diversity) Making trading more dinamic (to avoid ppl to price fixing and scam newbie players) - just like the AH idea, but would be awesome to be able to go to another player stash and buy the gear without the need to be invited. and having some cooldown on relist/reselling gear (like 72h or more on tier 1 (the best afffix)), so if you buy the gear it's to use, and not to resell it for a higher price |

The Chinese server/version of PoE2 doesn’t exist yet, when it does it will solve a lot of your and our problems. Just wait until it exists ;)
