Newbie Question About Mages
Hi. New to the game. Wanted to ask the experts.
How to increase damage in magic builds? I buy things + damage to spells. Gives a very small increase to DPS, even with 100% or more damage to spells I buy items +30 or more elemental damage (Result +200-600 DPS) Do I understand correctly that it is much more difficult for mages to increase damage than for warriors? p.s. I played on a fire mage. The damage from burning is also negligible ty Last bumped on May 29, 2025, 8:32:26 PM

I dont know what mage you talking about...
I usually put my build on pob app and check the nodes or gear for upgrades With time, while I search new builds leveling new characters, I understand more how a build work and how I can improve it's dmg Also... poe2.ninja also helps with watching what others players are using on their similar builds as me |

" What could Soyboy possibly offer Gigachad YNRY for his heaven-sent advice? Go find the damage calculations pages on maxroll or mobalytics. If you keep adding more and more "+% increased" whatever you will have diminishing returns. The most impactful way to increase spell damage is by adding levels to the skills you use. | |
You need to stack different type of effects:
high Gem level +damage to spells +% spell damage / elemental damage of the correct type (you can use weapon swap to support 2 different elements) more damage per intelligence/mana crit chance and crit damage lowering enemies elemental resistance of the correct type (and related passives that increase this reduction) Basically its more effective to have different multipliers that increase your damage than getting a single multiplier really high (e.g. 3x3x3x3 = 81 > 10 * 2 * 2 * 1 = 40) |
