PoB mistake? (Dying Sun)
main skill: cobra lash (fires 1 projectile)
placing "dying sun" flask ("skills fire 2 additional projectiles during effect") into mageblood is NOT changing dps (while it should triple it, no?). this holds true whether I tell PoB to "activate this flask" or not. (PoB does register the change in fire resistance, i.e. knows the flask is there) I have (so far ;-) never known PoB to be mistaken with anything, so it makes me wonder if I'm overlooking something? what might it be? thanks for thinking with me! :-) puzzled Last bumped on Jun 3, 2025, 3:15:02 PM

Mageblood only affects magic utility flasks as stated on the item. Dying sun is a unique utility flask.

ah, of course - how easy it is to overlook the obvious!
tyty :-) appreciationmonster, max level hm... on 2nd thought, the wiki description doesn't say anything about being unable to use non-magic flasks, so shouldn't I be able to 'manually' activate the dying sun? (I just tried, in 1st & last position, and again no change in dps, but PoB shows the change in fire resistance). why might THAT be? and, am I unable to use dying sun / non-magic flasks at all on mageblood? thanks again! |

You can use any other flasks with Mageblood. Extra projectiles doesn't change any dps.
The only thing Mageblood does is make your first 2-4 leftmost magic utility flasks active forever. Anything beyond that can be used. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jun 2, 2025, 9:16:00 AM

thanks once more :-), and...
" huh? extra projectiles are sequential, no? (can hit same target) so shouldn't going from 1 => 3 projectiles triple dps? tag... ;-) |

" Nope. Extra projectiles are fired simultaneously (not sequentially) on the sides, and only 1 projectile can hit 1 target. Even if it DID shotgun, PoB wouldn't show that either: you would need to manually figure that out. You can visualize how it works by using lesser multiple projectiles support in-game. For nearly every projectile skill except Barrage, additional projectiles are for CLEAR (coverage) and not for DPS. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jun 3, 2025, 8:23:10 AM
