3.26 needs massive meaningful balance changes !
All the showcases of QoL additions don't matter, even though they are appreciated. The game survived all these years without them.
What the game is in dire need of though, is true, MEANINGFUL balance changes. And not just a nerf/buff to 3-4 things like you've been doing these past few years. Change it all, come on, meta been stale for so long, and so many overpowered stuff. MASSIVE BALANCE CHANGES PLEASE. Rework some ascendancies, rework caster or caster defenses... And Caster is virtually unplayable now after the nerfs to Grace/Determination/Divine Blessing/Hatred. Thank you, A concerned and annoyed long-term player. Affliction and Necropolis worst leagues ever. The current game design has slowly turned this game into a loot-shower fest, chase uniques are way too available; and obtaining chase items through stacked decks and valdo's boxes simply isn't fun. Personally i appreciate the qol much more than whatever balance changes they might come up with. In fact i hope there aren't any. The game is in a really good spot balance wise, you can take just about any skill/ascendancy and do t17/ubers with it without much trouble/currency. There are overperformers as usual but they will always be there, sweeping changes won't change that so i don't see the point.

The game's balance is OK. "Really good" is a stretch in my eyes, especially with non-archemage self-cast builds in mind. It would also be fun to see them get rid of mechanical outliers like Lightning Strike, that is better than 'most' skills both when it comes to clear and single target.
While I always pick the skill I want to play and get along fine, the creeping feeling of "if I just switched to LS here, and changed a couple of nodes, my build would be 4 times as strong" tells us that balance isn't "really good". I think ALL leagues should nerf the and buff the outliers in both directions. PoE is a seasonal game and should be treated like that. Changeups are good. Idt balance changes are needed as much as new skills or items mby some new transfigured gems would of been nice.

Have you ever tried backing that "creeping feeling" with actual numbers? Because i severely doubt it's going to work like that. At least it never did for me when i tried. Maybe if you have 200 divs to throw at a nimis on top and assume a perfect scenario where your melee hit and all your projectiles hit but even then i am doubtful. Usually it will be factor 1,5 or 2 at most which i'd consider fairly reasonable. You'll never get every skill to be exactly equal in power and i believe you understand that.
As for selfcast, i am far from an expert on caster builds but even i know a bunch of uber viable scaling methods that work with just about any gem there is. And they aren't even new, they've been around for years but the moment a new toy (archemage) came around everybody forgot about them. I understand that you want change, and that's fair enough. But i do not believe it's necessary outside of "changing for changes sake". |

" 2? I think you're off. LS is pretty unique, as it has a double hit melee part, a screen-wide clear part and a vaal part that helps both clear and single target. It's OK that you're doubtful, but you're still wrong. And I don't mind spending 200 divines on a Nimis, so I don't really see that argument? But if "LS is not substantially better than most melee skills" is the hill you want to die on here, fine - we can cut it short. But can you at least tell me ONE good argument for them not to nerf it when you agree that it's twice as good as other skills? Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. I'd be happy if they made Champion, Berserker and Juggernaut more viable in comparison to Trickster and Slayer. Melee shouldn't be nerfed, just the overpowered skill gems that use projectiles. Pretty sure melee was meant to be a close combat play style.
As for spell casters they could make them more glass cannon maybe. Even then I don't really care about balance too much. People will just play the next overpowered build if spell casters get an overhaul. |

Your claim was you'd do 4 times after switching the gem and some passives. A 200 div chase unique is kinda outside that scope.
I am not disputing that LS is better than many/most other melee skills if only for the fact that it's essentially a ranged skill with all the perks that brings. Whether it's "substantial" is up to definition. If you want one good reason not to nerf it, it would be that after they've nerfed it people will just play the next best thing which will result in either people asking for that thing to get nerfed afterwards as well or for them to complain that "melee is bad now because you killed LS" like they've been doing for years now. Players always ask for nerfs of good skills and then complain that everything good gets nerfed it's a ridiculous pattern and it's been going like that since the dawn of time. It never got us anywhere. That said, if all GGG did was nerf LS then i wouldn't mind. But we all know from experience it won't end with that. There is going to be a ton of other changes as well with plenty of them doing more harm than good. If the new standard for balancing is that twice the damage is OP and needs nerfing then frankly that standard is absurd. With how complex POE is it's impossible for GGG to fix all cases of that and i am fairly certain you've made arguments to that effect in the past which makes me question why we are even having this argument now.
