GGG needs to remove the MacOS Client

MacOS Client had/has so many bugs in the past, that even it was nearly un-playable, despite superior hardware with M Max/Ultra chips.

E.g. The game crashes all the time, and the only fix for this was typing /DND in the chat. The developers in 2024 were aware of this issue, and you can even see a developer responding to the thread "MacOS Client keeps crashing". It's been nearly a year, and they still haven't fixed it.

I’ve had many MTX artifact graphical issues, which I reported 2 years ago, and to this day, nothing has been done about it.

The icing on the cake is the 3.26 Secrets of Atlas patch. The PoE client is completely broken — you can’t even log in. The client crashes regardless of whether you use the Mac client, Steam client, or Crossover, even before loading.

Hence my post. PoE 1 is actually not playable on Mac anymore, so my suggestion would be to remove the client from the PoE website and either take the time to transition to Mac Silicon, as was promised years ago, or just drop it altogether, because there is no way GGG will fix this, judging by their track record.

On the fun note, PoE 2 works like a charms via CrossOver on Mac. Constant 60fps UHD resolution. but that's a windows client.

https://browser.geekbench.com/mac-benchmarks - here's a solid list for you on how far M series has come. I think you are the one that is trolling or ignorant.

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-forum/413/tag/Mac%20Client - here's a link with known bugs on MacOS

How is this a troll post, like at least bring some receipts.

Between client crashes, inconsistent latency, instance crashes and more besides - those gaming on Macs don't have a monopoly on technical problems in Path of Exile.

But the problems plaguing the Mac client are of the highest severity with all but non-existent communication from GGG and year-long waits for fixes to the likes of regular client crashes.

One gets the distinct impression that a combination of being blindsided by Apple's transition to the ARM architecture and - speculating here - lower than anticipated adoption by gamers on Mac has resulted in GGG having buyer's remorse when it comes to their Mac port.

And instead of doing the decent thing and coming clean, saying they can't offer an experience on Mac that they would be proud of, and performing a full refund of all purchases made by Mac-using players, they're just trying to sweep it under the rug. It's truly shameful behaviour.

Let's say that - of the hundreds of employees they have - GGG has one full-time staff member working on the Mac client. The most serious issue pre-3.26, as noted by the OP, was the client crashes you could mitigate by using the /DND chat command. What was this one hypothetical person doing all year that they somehow never got around to working on that??

It seems rather clear that there's quite literally zero people at GGG working on the Mac client - and that they just made it possible for their game engine to produce .app files and that whenever they've worked on a new patch they press the "Build" button with no QA process whatsoever.

It’s not even that they have a poor track record — it’s the fact that GGG will misleads new players by offering MacOS as a standalone client, yet it it literally broken and not working as of Secrets of Atlas patch.

It’s like having a multiplayer game on Steam that was abandoned by the developers ages ago, with non-functioning servers, yet still keeping the game for sale.

not working as of Secrets of Atlas patch

You are considerably more generous than what I would be. :P

https://browser.geekbench.com/mac-benchmarks - simple google search, my dude.

There are many variables why every single studio is importing or not importing a game on MacOS. Recent were Assassin's Creed, Death Stranding and Lies of P, they run great on the latest M Chip Series, how ignorant can you get?

So, can you play Diablo 4? If no, why insist asking GGG to support Mac for POE 1 and 2?

Because people are installing Path of Exile on Mac & buying supporter packs because GGG claim to support PoE 1.
