Rathpith Globe + Merc

Hello, it's a simple question but might be hard to answer (since we don't see the offensive stats of the mercs,
if you equip Rathpith Globe to your merc does it scale the merc life or will scale with the player's life as it does with on minions when you have Necromantic Aegis?

I don't think it works at all with Merc, because the merc is not a "player".

Necromantic Aegis still means you, the player, have the item equipped and so it scales with you, and benefits your minions. This is not true in the case of equipping it on a mercenary.

Also, a mercenary is not a minion, so necromantic aegis doesn't work

Sry, I think you missunderstood my msg.
I know that necromantis aegis doesn't work on mercs, that wasn't my question.
I asked If it would scale on the mercs' life, your life (while it's equipped on the merc) or if it doesn't work at all.

I didn't misunderstand. I answered that question, and also explained why it can't be compared to Necromantic Aegis as you did in the post.

You used Necromantic Aegis to show how an item scales with your stats even though its working on your minions and not you. But that is a false comparison BECAUSE in that case, the item is still attached to YOU, only its effects are being projected to your minions. You are the one with the item equipped, not your minions; necro aegis doesn't mean your minions have your shield "Equipped".

Rathpith on your merc has NO ATTACHMENT to you as the player, and cannot scale with your life. It's an entirely different scenario. Nor would it scale with mercenary life because Rathpith specifies "player" and the mercenary is not a "player".

How can you be so confidently wrong? Buy a link skill and target your merc in a combat zone. It works even though the spells says "target allied player". Clearly it's not that black and white.

I would assume the shield would indeed scale with the Merc's life, as they are considered actual player characters for a lot of item and skill interactions.

Link skills were explicitly talked about in the reveal, because mercenaries are a special case and it was going to be the most logical usage if you could link them. I do not believe they suddenly make mercenaries count as "players". I am 99.9% confident, but of course there is the slight chance I'm wrong.
But the fact that link skills work, as per GGG's explicit design, is not definitive proof that the mercenary is a bonafide "player" for the context of Rathpith.

Here's some data from ZiggyD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsCxeCidWoA&t=714s
Lots of non-player confirmations and interactions

It's irrelevant anyway sort of: the original questionw was whether Rathpith would scale with merc life or YOUR life. If it indeed functions, it would scale with merc life obviously, seeing as they have it equipped.
