Why would you put Chains That Bind on a unique map?
As someone that doesn't trade and likes to actually play the game to get my gear, Chains That Bind was one of the only reliable 6L farms when I got a character to maps - super lame that it is tied to a unique map this league imo

You can get it in act 6 from the lower prison as well

Thank you I did not know that

1. How are the drop rates of this card in lower prison?
2. Is it possible to have it drop there if overleveled? Last edited by Doublesnow2706#8648 on Jul 27, 2025, 6:59:28 PM

" 1) Drop rates don't change based on zone, but are obviously affected by monster density, etc. Chains that Bind is a fairly common card, but campaign zones have very low monster density. It would take a long time to farm a whole set of them in this zone. 2) There is a penalty to drops of currency and cards for every level more than 2 above the zone, but your character is never considered above 68 for the purposes of this penalty. Lower prison is area level 47, so a character up to level 49 has no penalty. Characters level 68+ will drop approximately half of the div cards of a character level 49 or below in this zone. Either way, it would still take a long time. 3) There are *much* better ways to get a 6L than farming this card. Good builds should be able to farm T16 maps on a 5L, which is easy enough to make with Orbs of Fusing. Good league start builds can reach t16 with a 4L. If you're going to get your 6L from a card (probably not the best way), Dapper Prodigy is a much better card to farm. It gives an i100 6L so you can roll better mods, and can get top tier bases. Of course, all the generic 6L cards have a high chance of giving you a base you can't even use (like a pure ES base for slam character), so you're likely to have to farm multiple sets to get one that works. And when you do, it probably won't be an optimal base. If you're in a trade league, it makes the most sense to just save up and buy a 6L of a base type that makes sense for your build. | |
Thank you for this great answer. I'm playing lightning conduit elementalist in SSF and am curious how players obtain five or six links items the easiest.
I'm rather new to SSF. I just reached maps and have my lightning conduit four link in a honourhome helmet (+2 to socketed gems in this helmet) Last edited by Doublesnow2706#8648 on Jul 28, 2025, 3:20:03 PM

" A 4L Honourhome is nearly as good as a 5L. In some cases it may actually be better. That should be good enough to get you to red maps, possibly all the way to t16s. Being in SSF, you'll want to start by getting a good, well-crafted body armour and 5L it with fusings. * If your ideal body armour is a common unique that you can farm several copies of, farm for Tainted Fusings by specing Beyond. When you find one of the armours, make it 6S 5L, then corrupt it. Use a tainted fusing, and you've got a 50/50 chance to get a 6L. If you get a really good corruption implicit, and it doesn't go 6L on the first tainted fuse, you can keep trying, and every time it goes down to 3L you can use the bench to get it back to 4L (or 5L if you have LOTS of vaal orbs). * Farm fusings. There are fusing div cards, and then there's corrupted strongboxes. Corrupted items will occasionally go 6L as a result of the corruption, and each one will give you 20 fus when vendored. There's also all the normal methods of getting "bubblegum currency", such as farming expedition for Tujen, heisting, etc. If you manually fuse, the average is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000-1200 fusings to get a 6L. If you're risk averse, save up the 1500 to use the bench. * Beast farm for The Black Morrigan (plus the bird that gives 6L). Note that the Black Morrigan doesn't appear below t14. * Farm Heist blueprints. 6L enchanted items are fairly common in blueprints. Still expect to do lots of blueprints before you find one, especially one you can use. * Farm Dapper Prodigy cards for i100 6L armour. Be prepared to farm 3-5 sets to get a decent armour. This will take a long time. Hundreds of maps. Farming div cards mostly requires packing as many monsters into the map as you can. Once you reach t16 (w/4 voidstones) you can Scry the cards to a better/more dense layout. Even when I say "decent", it will probably won't be a top tier base. I'll repeat: For 99% of builds, you're better off with a good 5L body armour than a bad 6L. Especially because crafting first then linking after opens up more crafting methods. You can use the recombinator and you can use tailoring orbs. The difference here is, for example, it's pretty easy to get triple t1 prefixes with the recombinator, and you can use whatever bases you want, so you can have say a 3 t1 Necrotic Armour, whereas if you farm a pre-6L item (like from div cards for heist), you'll have to craft it in non-destructive ways, and you'll probably have to settle for something like t1 + t2 + t4. Remember a 5L is only 150fus to bench, and even less than that (on average) if you slow click and look for it. I recommend putting the armour in a tab (e.g. your currency tab's center crating slot) and filtering for ".-.-.-.-." so it will highlight when you hit 5L. One last thing: There are some things in the game that will give you full stacks of div cards (most notably Gravicius in Transportation through Jun/Syndicate). If you farm him, you may happen to get a full stack of one of the many 6L armour cards. It might happen to be on a good base. I won't say I recommend farming your 6L this way, but if you happen to get one, especially early, it could make a good stepping-stone armour. EDIT to add: In case you don't know why Dapper Prodigy is so much better than Chains that bind, the item level of a div-card turn in is, by default, your character level, up to a maximum of 80. Dapper prodigy gives an i100 item no matter what level the character is. For most t1 rolls, you need i83-86. i86 guarantees you can get all possible mods. Got a nice five link by gambling a couple of times at faustus so i'm set for a while now. I have expedition, kirac and strongboxes set up on my atlas. Rog has given me some interesting items too.
" Interesting. I've never used tainted currency. What do you mean by that last sentence? Why do i want to get it back to a four link? For what purpose? Edit: I'm the same guy as the one in the previous post. Just posted from the wrong account. I used to play on pc before i made an xbox account and merged them and sorry for hijacking thread by the way. I'll make my own thread if i have some more questions. " Tainted Fusings either add or remove a link, instead of randomly reforging them. So If you have a 3L, a tainted fuse makes it either 2 or 4. Since you can bench to 4L for 4 fuse and 4 vaal orbs (because corrupted items cost vaal orbs in addition when changing sockets on the bench), it's MUCH cheaper to bench back to 4. Benching 5L costs 150 fus and 150 vaal orbs, which, in a trade league, is generally more expensive than buying more tainted fusings. OTOH, if you've got a giant stockpile of vaals in SSF, you can just bench 5L and then tainted fus for a 50% chance at 6L. So, average cost of 300 fus and 300 vaal, but could be much more if you're unlucky. |
