Sound is gone all of a sudden

I never had this issue before, game was working fine then the sound stopped working. I tried so many things, reinstalling the game, reinstalling the sound driver, switching sound channel, changing directx. Nothing worked. Other games on my pc have sound, I can watch youtube, twitch... on all browsers without any issue.

Windows POE1

POE has been losing my audio drivers - Something has happened where the audio driver is no longer on the list of drivers, and the only way to fix it is to restart.

When I restart POE it will then freeze (blank screen), requiring a forced closing. In order to bypass this problem I attempted to edit the sound settings in the configuration file.


Documents/My Games/Path of Exile/production_Config.ini

This line is blank:

audio_device_id=

Setting it to:

audio_device_id=Default


Now when I start POE I hear the gear noise of the loading screen. But the game still freezes at a blank screen.


Next target is the video settings:

fullscreen=true
borderless_windowed_fullscreen=false

Setting:

fullscreen=false

and

borderless_windowed_fullscreen=true

Now my game is loading again.
