Scrying a map with Nameless Seer causes the original map to lose all inherent card drops

After scrying a map with Nameless Seer who I saw in Crimson Township I decided to use it on Defiled Cathedral (yes wrong way I know now). Then been running the Crimson Township for 200-300 maps expecting a mageblood card to drop at least once.

During that time I noticed that not only have I not seen one mageblood card but also none of the other cards associated with Defiled Cathedral. So then I thought wait maybe it doesn't work the way I think it worked and started looking out for the cards inherent to Crimson Township aka The Enlightened or The Life Thief that I saw drop once at least every 3-6 maps before scrying. However, nothing. I don't see cards even inherent to Defiled Cathedral, there are no natural card drops in the map.

The only reason I even ran so many maps was because I was thinking that The Apothecary card was just so rare so that's why I didn't see drops.

Also checked my filters to see if cards from Crimson Township or Defiled Cathedral even show up and they do, neither just drop from Defiled Cathedral.

Expecting an Apothecary every 200-300 maps is wild.

Anyways, has been reported many times since Seer was introduced, no real response from GGG yet. Seems to be no clear pattern who gets impacted when it comes to scouring Seer maps. I strictly avoided it in Phrecia after I saw the bug reports. Did it on a whim this league twice, no issues thus far thankfully.

Best bet is to pick another map to run sadly until next league that you haven't scoured Seer off yet. I'm not hopeful of a patch for Seer this league.

So this is a known issue?

Never done div card mapping before so had no expectations but assumed 200-300 would be realistic.

I'm now compelled to try it myself.

Known by people like me who frequent Bug Reports and see it regularly. I assume GGG has seen them by now from how many times it has been reported since Seer was introduced, but it is not in the known issue list, so we can only assume it is on one of their internal lists.

Because it is working for most and not working for others, there is layers to actually fixing it for everyone. They have to find what is the common link between everyone reporting the issue and probably requires very specific conditions to replicate. And because most people reporting it don't know how to use the search function, it doesn't help that the reporters get spread across dozens of posts over the duration.

And yea, every div card essentially has a hidden weight to how frequent they drop. There's a tier list somewhere and high variation with running originator influence for quantity, altars/div rewards that ignore drop pools, pure mob density (more mobs = more chance to get a card), etc. I did JV + altar farming with 8-mod maps with Apothecary for 2 leagues now with Seer scry, 1000+ maps, never saw it once to give you an idea how rare it can be (and confirmed other cards in the pool drop both leagues). I'm sure some people have gotten way luckier, but I'm never scrying Apothecary again after that, haha. Wouldn't be as bad if there were other good cards in the pool, but yea.. for average player it's just not worth target farming for imo when you could just run div cards and get multiple divines a day just from those cards (with a decent strat).

Sorry for the rant. I see it far too often people feel entitled to X drop. It's just not the case with how rare the card truly is. But if you aren't getting Chin Sol card dropping over multiple maps, you are getting the scour Seer bug.

I don't see how multiple people reporting about the same issue is detrimental to fixing it. It should be the opposite and increase the relevancy around the issue as if it's a bug for one or two people it's hardly not worth investigating if the cause is obfuscated.

All good with the rant and honestly surprised to hear about it being that rare. Even though you probably meant it generally, I certainly didn't feel I was entitled to dropping one but not dropping one made me look into the cards that were dropping as a whole and just came to the realization I hadn't got even one natural drop from my map.

You keep mentioning "scour" but I haven't scoured him from my maps. I still see the connection from Crimson Township to Defiled Cathedral. I just don't see card drops from either.

Multiple threads makes it harder to see how many people are actually affected unless you spend a lot of time in bug reports. And there's a bug report FAQ that says to post in a thread if one already exists, but spend a few days here and you'll see how many people don't follow that one :P

Sorry, I misunderstood and thought you flipped the connection when you said wrong way that you were running Crimson Township for Defiled cards. If you haven't scoured either map, and neither map is dropping any of the common cards after that many maps, then sounds like a new Seer bug I'm not familiar with leading to the same bug as the scour issue (unless both are triggered the same way and scour is unrelated). And I don't recall any changes to Seer to trigger that.

Your options from here are to try to scour him and see if that resets the drops for either map, or both remain bugged. Or run a different map until a fix comes, which may or may not bug again if you decide to try to re-Seer Apothecary to a new map. Not great options unfortunately.

Alright but tbh I've reached my league goals by a crazy margin so won't be planning to set up my maps, just wanted to point out the bug as I'm closing up the league.

Anyway thanks for replies and gl hf
