About the DDOS attacks

First i am no expert on computer stuff...But i can google....What i found about DDOS attacks is basicaly if the server are small the DDOS attacks can succeed its evil intentions...
Solution recommended was to use external server that is very big, company that can help ggg with redirecting the DDOS attacks into this external server that is too big for the DDOS attacks to even work...

So if i understood this correctly its a money thing....
GGG can actually fix this by using a little bit of the money they earned on overpriced mtx etc....Basically the game is suffering because of stingy ggg
( honestly i dont know how much it costs to get this type of help externaly but come on how expensive can that really be ? does anyone know how much please inform the community )

Its all about the money isnt it.....milking the dumb cow
If something happens like these DDOS attacks it exposes you GGG as company that really dont care....

In my opinion ggg is at its lowest ever...

You could go get some help but you havent done that, but you still want the money flow from the players right.....

This is nonsense.

It is possible to scale DDoS attacks near-infinitely. I've no idea what you have been looking at - but while it might, in theory, be possible to try to out-scale a DDoS attack for, say, a website (which doesn't care which server you access), the instant you have people playing the game on a particular one of GGG's instance servers, there are very real limits on how far vertical scaling can take you. The attacks haven't taken Path of Exile down - they have sporadically brought down individual servers. That is a distinction that makes all of the difference in the world.

In such a scenario, horizontal scaling is of no use. That cannot do anything to help the people on an individual server that abruptly gets targeted by the perpetrators.

Millions.

Since that's "a little bit" of money, perhaps you'd be happy to reimburse them?

Actually, GGG has provided updates on how DDoS-mitigation services they are paying for have been impacting the game. You can find one of those in this thread.
I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...

Yeah.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter what the playerbase knows about this. It's their problem to fix. We can speculate whatever we want of course.

Thanks guys for fast answers...

I see the bigger picture now...

I just hope poe1 survives

Then don't comment or give advice on topics that you clearly don't understand. A quick Google search doesn't make you knowledgeable.

Don't waste your time on this, everyone knows there's no DDOS attack.

what a quintessential 2020s thing to say.

Let's not bother with actual knowledge and research when there's a quick google search that gives us everything we need to know to form an "informed" opinion on a very technologically complicated issue, or any issue. Instead, lets put my google search ingenuity on full display to the masses as a near-statement of fact.

After all, a google search is equivalent to expert life's work and specialists in the field right?

Thanks for this lengthy statement that literally adds nothing to the topic and only mocks the author.

The game is free and was designed to be cheap. Ultimately, only the provider truly knows what's going on. To be honest, GGG doing nothing is probably the best in this situation, considering the game is overall in a good state(retention).

Why in the world should I make a real contribution to a terrible thread like this one?

OP didn't even ask any questions, and he attacked GGG based on his google search information.

If I contributed nothing, the OP itself contributed LESS than nothing. It actively detracts from if there were no thread at all.

And yes...I actually do find it PERSONALLY offensive when someone feels the right to bash an expert team on their explanations.....based on nothing more than what was likely 1 minute of AI google reading. It deserves the response I gave.

At the very least it could have been framed as a legitimate question, given the OPs own admission of not knowing anything of what he was talking about. But that wasn't the context.
