SSF Currency Exchange
I play SSF almost exclusively, and was introduced to the currency exchange in POE2 while playing with a friend. It was such a nice feature to use to speed up character progression without needing to go through the hassle of trading.
Is there any chance that SSF can gain access to the currency exchange? I know the trading rates are based on actual players, so I'm not sure how those would be calculated. Roleplaying wise, you could say that you are trading with the Kalguur or other factions. I'm not sure if I would go as far as to say that non-SSF leagues would drive the exchange rates. What do you guys think? Would this be welcomed by the SSF community? Please don't reply with the "just play standard/challenge league and not trade" response. Last bumped on Jul 23, 2025, 7:04:15 PM

I have been meaning to suggest the same idea for quite some time now... Now that Kingsmarch and the currency exchange have gone core, I do think they should introduce some form of NPC currency exchange for SSF, or everyone if necessary.
If nothing else, it should just be a way to buy the same currency available to you from vendors at the same exchange rates. For example: Purchase 1 Orb of Augmentation for 4 Orbs of Transmutation Purchase 1 Orb of Alteration for 4 Orbs of Augmentation Or even purchase 1 Orb of Alteration for 16 Orbs of Transmutation directly ...That sort of thing. There really should be no reason to go to town in order to do these exchanges, this should be possible in a player's hideout. Though I would like it if they expanded on the available default NPC currency exchange options for all players. Even if it is limited to basic currency, it would be really nice to be able to put Alchemy Orbs and Binding Orbs and such to good use by being able to exchange them for something needed... I always have more of those than I need. Last edited by D623932883#0055 on Jul 19, 2025, 1:24:33 PM

I have always wanted an npc to trade up and down currency, but have never figured out how to implement one well enough to ask for one due to some major factors.
1. They will never add something to ssf that isn't in the rest of the game, so you have to balance this in trade league. 2. Trade league has a living economy that you don't want to price fix by vendors. So the solution has to allow me to freely trade up and down currency, but not affect trade at all. The only way to do this in a free market is to make the exchange rate so crazy high that the market will always be the better cheaper option. To put this into practice, the market says a divine is 200c. If I went to the npc and put in a divine I could only get 100c back and to get a divine would need to cost 300c. Which is great in theory. But now, imagine the next patch puts in a map mod that costs 2c at the map device and it becomes the new meta to run maps. Chaos now become more valuable to divines and instead of 200 c to a divine, the market would set itself at 75c to a divine. Well your NPC is now price fixing the market because no one would sell a divine to people at 75c when they could get it 100c from the vendor. This is the same if chaos become less valuable. So without micromanaging the vendor or casting such a wide net that no one would ever use the vendor I have yet to figure out a way how to add such an element. " Is this coming from the potential strategy of abusing SSF in the manner of creating and playing in SSF in order to get better trade rates then making a character to transfer the currency from SSF to non-SSF? I would think that would be a minority of players that have the time to play endgame on two different leagues. Even if that is the case, could GGG then disable inventory transfer between leagues? Do people actually use their inventory when changing leagues? The only time I've done it is when I had a unique I wanted to use when fiddling around in Standard league.
" Endgame players would "lose" more currency during that leveling and farming process in SSF than just playing in trade league. I don´t even know who this change would help out in trade besides someone starting in SSF and migrating all to trade afterwards. |

It's not really solo self found if you don't find the materials yourself, the mode would degenerate into the same thing as trade. Just farm the most efficient currency and trade in.

Just play trade and... don't trade? I don't see what problem you're trying to solve

if you want to trade your currency why are you playing in ssf?
ssf is not trading, its playing within the constraints of what drops for you and you alone. so it sort of defeats the point to mimic trading to allow you to have a ton of stuff that you didnt really find? kaosu is right, just dont trade. me and my partner play together in poe2, we are not playing in the ssf mode because we want to group together and share gear, we are not trading for gear with anyone outside of our friend circle because we want to find and craft all our own gear but we are using the currency exchange because it makes finding orbs like divines that would be worthless to us actually really good, it lets us craft a lot of stuff but we dont fall into that trap of trading for gear that better than anything we can find or craft ourselves and therefor all our gear drops are now shit. i think ull find most people who dont trade are playing in trade league, ssf mode is just there as a flex so you can say hey, ive done it legit and this proves it. it proves i didnt trade off stream or whatever. its a brag. you dont need to be in ssf to not trade. you dont need to be in hardcore to delete your character on death either. thing with hardcore is that if you trade then being in a trade environment with other hc players matters a lot. ssf mode really doesnt matter, its just a flex, you can have exactly the same experience in trade league by just not trading. so just do that and then use the currency exchange. honestly i recommend it, were having an awesome time in poe2 playing that way. im too far in on poe1 i got a decade of gear forged in a trade environment that i treasure but if i was starting again today id play in trade league, never trade for gear and just use the exchange. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" Are you not trading when you are doing vendor recipes or exchanging currency to get more fusings from the vendor? It would be the same concept.
If you need currency in SSF, there's boats and kingsmarch map runners. That's spending gold to trade for currency, basically.
Softcore, solo self-found.
