mercenary click when dying

Twice now I have left-clicked my own mercenary as they are "dying" (teleporting out of a fight) and it brings up the mercenary interface for the mercenary living on that map. Most recently, I chose to hire that new merc, and it said "Fight" on the screen, but the map merc was on the other side of the map. I beat an Einhar monster, and by the time I got to the mercenary it had a green health bar and was wandering around. It did not follow me, though, and I could not interact with it. I lost my merc, I couldn't get that merc, and I couldn't interact any more with the merc.

On the next map I was able to hire THAT merc, so it's not a permanent glitch, but a little frustrating.
