Omen of the hunt does not work?

So i finally came across a spirit of the hare and i had an omen of the hunt which by description says the next spirit you kill WILL release its spirit. So i kill it and next thing you know my item is consumed but the spirit never dropped so what the actually hell is this? This is apparently a known bug that has been reported for awhile and no fix has been deployed what so ever? This is very frustrating as this spirit is the most rare spirit in the game and the first time i have seen one since this season has started.

Why are we not fixing things during the season? why are we just releasing and forgetting till next season?
