Hideouts are AMAZING. Yet they aren't developed, used or marketed. Why?

I mainly play PoE for the combat & build diversity with the skill tree but...

Hideouts are amazing side content. Simply something that makes this game standout SO MUCH MORE.

They are a throwback to the first time I saw some poorly designed hideouts in a game - Pokemon Emerald (trainer bases) where you could do some really basic stuff, but it felt like your space, your very small world to design and give the feel you wanted.

In Path of Exile, the hideouts are mind-blowingly good. The design of the space, the size overall & ability for customization - Yet they're not taken advantage of as a feature at all, nor marketed, and consequently barely anyone makes the most out of them.

- The UI is terrible.
- No search button.
- The way to design them is arcaic, at best.
- Moving stuff around is a pain.
- There's a million, needlessly expensive MTX (but I guess that's transversal to PoE)
- There's no content apart from a yearly, unstable, showcase with 2 or 3 hideouts on Youtube, yet there's
- Yet something else in PoE you need to go offsite (hideoutshowcase) for some semblance of feature support.
- We are locked out of so many hideouts or decorations because they came from older supporter packs. Just let us get them?

My question is... Why? This doesn't make any sense.
I found a DC of some great hideout artists and the designs are insanely good, yet they all say the same thing as I do above.

The feature has evolved over time, so there is some hope for more future improvements. Fingers crossed.

It used to be that hideout objects were not freely available like they are today. They were tied to NPCs, and, depending on which objects you wanted to unlock (a rock, a tree, a wall, etc), you had to level up a specific, designated NPC.

The objects also came with an individual cost (Favour).

It was a grind and a half. I don't miss it.
Hideouts are the least interesting feature of this game. I set mine years ago and haven't touched it since. It's like those sad kids that play dress up with the transmog system in wow only with a room.
The only thing they have to do with Hideouts, is to let us use Kingsmarch as a hideout with all NPCs and benches.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
I think it's because hideouts are essentially meant to be the "customization part" of the game as AFAIK there's no other thing you can customize to your liking, but the people who don't like to customize stuff don't use the hideout for anything other than the crafting table.

It's essentially a thing that serves the needs of a subset of PoE's playerbase, so it's understandable that GGG prioritizes something designed for the entire playerbase (i.e. the actual gameplay of killing stuff and making builds).

I get that and can agree. It just feels like the root cause of low adoption / usage is exactly the fact they're not exploited, at all.

If there was more content, usability, exposure & better UI / QOL, I'm sure people would use it much more. I'm sure A LOT of people don't even know you can import a great design considering how many trades I go to where their hideout has nothing but the crafting bench and stash next to waypoint.
