Essence monsters occasionally not dropping their essences

This bug has been here for some years and you can find several threads about it on the forums and reddit. Occasionally essence monsters simply don't drop their essences.
This is very noticeable when farming essences and having 15+ essence monsters per map. You will run into this issue every few maps, at the very least. It's especially annoying if you corrupted the essences and got one like hysteria in there, or a lot of deafening essences.

I was using an essence+beast atlas tree and essence + rare monster scarabs. It happens regularly and is not a loot-filter issue.

edit: so I made this thread after starting a map and the first essence monster not dropping anything. funnily enough it happened again in the same map right after I posted the thread. bug report number 1.755.931.332
