Auction house? I think there's a better way.

I've been playing path of exile 2 for a little while now. My laptop's really old so I've been planning on my PlayStation 5. The overall experience I've been having is very good. But I think it's safe to say that we need some sort of way to appraise items. It puts console players at a serious disadvantage. So much so that it's not really worth playing the game on console. I realize that the team at GGG doesn't want to have an auction house. And I get why. It's a mess. But I think I have a good idea on a different way. And maybe the players and Jonathan can get what they want. Because I too also see the good and having to interact with players in a trade rather than an auction house.

What if there was an NPC or a new table that was put in the game. You could place an item into it. It would use AI to surf the trade site to see what your item could be worth. It might not be as accurate as the third party stuff out there. I'm also not even sure if this idea could work. But it could be a neat way for the team to fiddle with AI inside of their games and see a benefit to it. In this way we would still have to interact with each other to make a trade as the NPC or table would just give you a price.
