My opinion on Development effort breakdown between poE and PoE2

Now, I do not know the actual breakdown on the division in development effort between the 2 games.

In my opinion, I think the breakdown should be 80/20, with 80% of development time spend on PoE2. Eventually the effort should be 90+ for PoE2, where PoE 1 are maintenance mode.

Lets be realistic here, PoE 2 is the future for GGG, and should be where the buck of the development time be spend.

They are clearly struggling with development between the 2 games (ignore they still suppose to have a mobile game, which I guess was kept in ice for now) and need to prioritise development effort.

The reason I think still 20% effort on poE 1 is that PoE2 is still not complete, and keep to keep PoE 1 active for the fanbase while polishing PoE2.

Once PoE2 is in full swing, PoE1 should (sadly) be slowly phase out in dev time.

I know someone will said, why not just hire more people? I personally do not know the development Environment in New Zealand, but if its similar to other western country, adding more stuff is more Overhead and need to justified with higher perceived revenue.

What do you guys think? How should GGG move forward between the 2 games.

I'm leaning more towards 70/30. Obviously PoE 2 should be the focus - it is modern, has a lot of potential and room to grow. PoE 1 is established, bloated but is built upon a solid fundation so expanding and adding to it should be, in theory, much easier.

Disagree. Both games can co-exist and PoE 1 has many years to go, if GGG wants to. There's still plenty lore to draw from, design space for new leagues, skills, items and so on.

So far it's been rocky for both games but I'm confident enough in GGG to give them the benefit of doubt. They'll figure it out.
