Yes its fun and all seeing all those spiders scurry around. And double spiders essentially means 100% more damage which IS big.
BUT How much are you actually functionally gaining by using Dark Monarch here? Considering what you lose by being unable to use non-spider minions. Adorned / Fang are usable regardless so the only variable to be considered is Monarch. Granted, I haven't made a spider build in quite some time. But you lose AG, Spectres, Skitterbots, Golem (if you use one), etc. Not to mention some other very juicy helmet mods you could be getting. Starting anew....with PoE 2

^well i meant mostly all the defense and utility you give up for pure damage, which is quite significant.
But even with that (pure damage): culling strike through kingmaker = 10%, Feeding Frenzy = 10%, charges through spectres = 12%, shock through skitterbots = 15%, among other things. So with a full setup you aren't losing TOO much damage going non-Monarch, but you will also be gaining all the utility and defensive options. But if you don't need the defense, then by all means swarm that shit up Starting anew....with PoE 2
