Softcore gauntlet?

Would it be possible for GGG to release a softcore version of the gauntlet that is "just for fun" - i.e. no prizes?
I want to try out a different campaign but considering that I die relatively frequently, I don't want to play on HC. Last bumped on Aug 6, 2025, 5:47:51 PM

I died in act 10 to Vilenta and it's fine. Better luck next time.
You can watch a clumsy asian girl make it through the campaign if you need motivation, lol. She litterally finished the gauntlet with a lvl 80 char ;P These gauntlets do not work in softcore, imo. There would be no point. |

I would be in favor of a softcore version. I see no harm in it. The issue I have with hardcore is that it does not respect your time at all. The difficulty of the Gauntlet remains unchanged, you just don't have to waste 16+ hours on a slight slip-up. In any case if you've ever used a logout macro or quit the game in order to avoid death, you're essentially playing softcore with extra steps.

A few streamers host a sc private league before gauntlets with added mods that make it similar to gauntlet. I would get into one of those private leagues if you want to prepare prior to gauntlet. You could also probably make your own private league with the mods if you have the ability to.

there is no point in a sc version and it does respect your time. I get it, HC isn't for everyone but it isn't the game not respecting your time when you die save that for mechanics that actually are designed to waste player time.

There's no real competition aspect in softcore. Defeats the purpose of such an event. People would just stack damage, blast through the game without real consequences and be done with it in 24 hours. Literally.

Its already just for fun. Just play till you die. If that happens fast, learn and try again, thats the whole point.\
This is coming from the POV of a SC Trade player. I died at level 49 in gauntlet, went back to SC with my sweet new MTX. " Gauntlet doesn't respect ur time either way, it's 10 days only. And since u've said that logout macros equal softcore, u can just play HC with macro. No need for a SC version. Anyway, I'm all for GGG to release the Gauntlet campaign as a private league option, but Ziz already said that there will never be a SC Gauntlet organized by him at least. |
